Bought the wife 1 of these for an anniversary present, she doesn't like to fool with the boats when I come home from the lake to take care of buisness (rest actually)....
Now she thinks I'm trying to kill her...:rolleyes
This thing is 155hp, 0 to 50 in 4 seconds and will throw you off if not careful when you nail it at 30mph...glad I didn't get the 185hp super charged one......
All I wanted was the four stroke engine, now the wife runs if she see's me with a hammer or wrench in my hand...she won't get on it without the learners key in it (max 35mph)..on the pro side she cuts up my food now....
If you like power, get this baby!

My parents just got two of the ones with the 185 hp two weeks ago. Crazy power, the advances in these things are out of this world. I don't have much desire to go 70 mph on those things. I think I'll stick with the Outlaw.

they told me they would gps at 59 to 60 (65 on speedo) and the 185hp about 63...but the 0 to 50 is whats unreal ...155hp pulling 875 lbs....
I'm like you, ain't to wild about that much speed on that little thing! I probly should have gone w/ the 140hp yamaha 4 stroke..

OK wanna have some real fun with that new GTX Dan...... :eek
Give this a try.... we'll start you off slow and work up from there......
Head forward at a speed of say..... 15 mph, then pull the reverse lever up and whack the throttle..... when the nose dives down a bit slam it in drive and whack the throttle again (full throttle)... (remember, this is a one way jet pump... no gears will strip of jam up... your just redirecting the jet water in a different direction)..... you'll find when you hit forward after hitting reverse the nose WILL dive under the water a bit...... getting you a LITTLE wet.....
Next try it at 25 mph and then 30.... when you get up to 35 and 40 mph your whole watercraft and yourself WILL be able to go completly under the water... :eek
We used to own a 98 GTX 110hp 2 stroke and that thing was a freakin' blast to submarine...... I could get the whole craft and myself underwater.... totally out of sight and pop up SEVERAL yards from where I went under..... friends and family LOVED that little stunt.... unless they were riding on the back that is. :rollin
Keep in mine though.... IF you go TOO fast... 45mph or faster your just going to get thrown over the handlebars.... been there done that.... fun' but not the look I was shooting for. PLUS I lost a darn nice pair of sunglasses that day.... :rolleyes
The water craft will take on a little water (in the hull) but it's really nothing to worry about. I did this for hours one day and NEVER had a single problem with our GTX.....
Oh yeah,
VERY nice toy BTW..... :D

Yeah they are a blast! Mine is a 2000 model with the direct injection 2 stroke 3 cylinder with 130 HP. I have GPS checked it and it is about 57 MPH. The speedo is about 8 MPH fast! :rolleyes
I'd love to have one of the new supercharged 185 HP ones!
Honda has a monster with a turbo and intercooler! I like the features of the SeaDoo better and the instrumentation.

Hey Bajacraig...
give it a try and let me know how you make out.....
believe me it'll take quite a few attempts before you master it but it really is quite easy and a blast once you learn it.....
Take your SeaDoo out in a quiet cove and learn how to do it and THEN after you know how to do it show the parents...... THAT will jump start some old hearts for sure.... :rollin
Enjoy and have fun..... just remember, take off your good sunglasses before attempting. :rolleyes

Bajacrig:
Once you have mastered it on the Jet's, should be no problem doing it in your Outlaw...:x You can give lessons here after it is perfected. :eek

MissBehavin,
Ive done that.......but i wanst quite as smart to start in the low MPH's. My first go of it was pretty much at 3/4 throttle. It was a few years back and it was on my cousins GTX. My boat was in the shop and we (about 100 of us) were doing a day trip to a local Island. I could have taken a ride with another boat but I figured it would be fun to ride the Sea Doo there. (its about 18 miles from our dock) Well, Im still in the river that leads out to the ocean and im putzin around waiting for the other boats and i get the smart idea to try hittin reverse while going. (in my head im thinking.......it will be like hitting the brakes......cool) Well the first time i do it.....i dont hit the throttle at all once im in reverse and i just coast to a stop......Now im thinking "well im gonna have to hit the throttle next time". So....once again....up to speed....pull reverse lever......hit throttle....Sea Doo stops...goes under water....i continue at the 45mph i was originally traveling....over the bars.....rag doll it across the water till stop and im facing the wrong way. (note to self: Dont do that agian)
All in all ...........pretty funny !!!!

Hey Phil....
try it again.... just do what I said.... :D
Try not to go TOO fast though......
I like the "rag doll" comment.... that's JUST what one feels like as the SeaDoo pukes you off it's seat. :rollin
Enjoy the new trick. :p

I don't know if it had anything to do with it but, I was hitting the reverse pretty hard trying to see what was going to happen, I had my daughter on it so I didn't go for it. We were going along about 15 min. later and the thing started smoking and taking on water.:rolleyes I made it back and the thing started to sink :eek They had to pull the thing back with the boat and take it to the shop. I haven't herd what went wrong but I think it's pretty bad. :x
Thanks for the advice on a new trick :b

I HIGHLY doubt that had anything to do with it but you never know.... :rolleyes :eek
The guy that told/taught me to do this trick owns a SeaDoo dealership here in Maine and who knows..... maybe he was looking for some service work and mine never broke.... :lol
Seriously, if our GTX hasn't done that submarine trick 200 times without failure it hasn't done it once..... VERY fun and addicting trick when learned and performed properly.... :b

SeaDoo advises against towing the jetski without first clamping off an internal water supply line. The instruction booklet (very nicely done I must say) says to "pinch the water supply line from the impeller to the engine". Otherwise the only option is to tow the jetski well below the 15 MPH towing limit, according to the manual. "Water may be forced into the exhaust system and injested into the engine via the exhaust ports since there is no exhaust pressure to force the water out of the exhaust system with the engine off."
Apparently the damage to your engine was done -before- you had it towed so obviously that is not the cause of your problem. I am only addressing an issue with towing a SeaDoo ski with the engine not running. :)

Chris,
Thanks for the info., I was not with them when they towed it back. I kind of crapped out on them after (I needed to get some people home) but they told me that it took them TWO HOURS to go 7 miles.:eek
I still have not herd what happened.

Finally, a little rest....been at the lake all but about 5 days since Memorial weekend....
Craig..when I bought mine they said doing real tight figure eights would cause water intrusion on the GTX fourtec's, something about the location of the air intakes....
misbehave.I think I'll pass on the reverse thing brother...but I see your nick is a well chosen one...:D :D ...
I haven't even got on it yet except to go straight across the lake to get gas ($150 in 20 hrs. use..and this is a 3 cyl.) :o
pit...my insurance is $210 a year....get one, you'll love it if you can get on it...it's a four cycle so you just by gas and go, enclosed cooling system so winterizing means blowing the water out of the pump and fogging...I was told the Yahmaha is a little more sound mechanicly, with a rear seat that has a back on it for $200,and kawasaki has a four cycle for $8400-8600, 3 seater 130hp.....the seadoo is $10,500 at the lake ....$9600 anywhere else, I like the front strakes that direct the spray away from the driver and the assisted steering when powered down.
AHHHHH, it's good to be home! Getting sick of working on boats and installing a hoist....
If you are on rough water, let me recommend these drive-on hoists ...you hit the board position, then down..after you power off it slowly pops up...then hit the up....when you come in, since the front is attached to the dock and the back lowers, you drive on the bunks and never worry about the front hitting the dock, no need to hold the boat while raising...best lift I have ever seen!!!! Perfect for rough water....if your lake doesn't have a dealer, look into a franchise..it's a slam dunk!

They told me some fitting came loose and allowed water to be pumped in. I'm glad I was not in the middle of the channel with the 5 year old.(I would not be there with a 5 year old but I have seen people who would):rolleyes
But all is good now and I'll try again soon:|
