As per bottomless pit's request a new thread explaining my 38. I bought it last year the weekend before Easter. I got it in KY from Lake Cumberland. It was originally from LOTO before the KY lake. I am the third owner but you would think I bought it brand new by the condition of her. I picked it up with 219 hours. It has 502's and a generator,A/C fridge, mwave, burner, central vac, I think all the toys are on this one. I do not have the ice maker I am not sure when that became an option. The cockpit has 2 elec bolsters and a skating rink between the back seat and the bolsters. I put over 130 hours a year on my boat. I use it almost every night on the Missouri River where I live and do a LOTO trip at least twice a year. This year three trips are planned. I am a farmer and my beautiful wife is a dental hygienist. My previous boats were a 1983 19' Celebrity, 1991 320 Baja and now my 38. I am not sure what I would ever move "up" to that would make me happier than what I have. I would love to have pits graphic instead of mine but I am not in the market right now. Any more Q's just ask!!!!!!!!! ADAM

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you have a nice .38!
If there is anything you need to know about your boat you know where to look, or ask a question. Somebody here will have the answer!

Cool Ash, you will have to give us advance notice when you make your LOTO trips. We all love Baja's and boating. My wife and I are both from small towns where farming in the norm. My beautiful wife is also a dental hygienist. Sounds like we might be able to have some fun sometime. I have been making the two and a half hour trip to LOTO every weekend in the summer time for over thirty years. Maybe I could show you some out of the way places that most never find.

My 38 is a 93. I am seeing speeds around 60mph. As I mentioned before I do not "lay the meat to the throttles" often. I do have GPS on board and it maybe has registered faster than that but I am basically driving a cruiser that looks like a performance boat.
My next trip to LOTO is going to be for the shoot-out. We will be arriving very late on Thurs or first thing Fri morn. I am having a survey done on the boat when I get there for my insurance company (there is a story in itself). I will be sleeping on my boat at the state park for the weekend. I will leave my boat at the lake for that week as I come back home and work------(still looking for a place to park it, on trailer or off)--- then it is back to the lake for Labor Day. We have a condo at Summer Ridge that weekend MM 17. I too enjoy meeting new people and would have no problem tossing back a few Capt. Morgans with some strangers. They wouldnt be strangers for long.
Surely we can come up with more than 2 Q's. I have all the A's and if I dont I will make something up.

ASH, I am not going to be able to make it for the ShootOut. I will be on business in Cleveland, OH from 24th-29th. But I do plan to make up for it on Labor Day. I will definitely try to look you up then. As far as keeping your boat at LOTO, Big Thunder Marine has a second location on the water in the Grand Glaize Arm. When you say your staying at the State Park, I presume you are talking about Public Beach #2 on the 3mm of the GG arm over by Party Cove. If so, by water their slips are only a couple miles away. Or if you want to load it up on the trailer, you could drive over by land in about 10 minutes. I am sure they would let you store it either in or out of the water for a small fee. I'm sure this fee would be less than the extra fuel you would burn towing up and back two weekends in a row. If you want I can even give them the heads up you might call. It may help you out some. If you want more info you can e-mail me direct at ckmansell@yahoo.com

1) How fast were you going when you were trying to catch up to Aggie Bush's cat?
2) Who has the best looking brunette in Iowa?
3) Is an eight-pound robin fat?
4) How many bottles of Captain Morgan were emptied in the .38 so far this summer?

GREAT more Q's from a perfect stranger.
Here are the A's
1) What Skittles colored boat are you talking about???? I was prolly going an honest 55 or so.
2) The hottest brunette in IA goes to a friend of mine in Carter Lake. She is always calling me for boat rides when her hubby leaves town. Now for the hottest blonde-- at 6' 00" it has to be the farmers wife. Put the two of them together and loooooooook out. Sorry about the rambling about hot chix.
3) depends on how tall he is and his bone structure.
4) one---------------at a time (exception being our vacation for the week of Jul 17-26 then it was 7 at a time) Oh ya I did take some home. Remember the Mrs was tapping into it as well. Get off my case J A. What do you want from me.

Ed & Ash, Make sure when you come to LOTO you bring and keep a bottle of Capt Morgan on your boat. Last weekend, the Capt Morgan 39 Challenger was handing out prizes if you showed them a bottle. I hope to have some pics of the boat posted soon.

Thanks for the heads up Curt. Been there done that. I held up four of the 7 1.75's I had left as well as the towels I had on board. They rifled a couple T-shirts our way in P-cove. They even had a dude dressed as the capt in long pants and all. What a gig that must be, count me out.

Baja Craig, was that you dressed up???? WOW that's quite a gig, is that hair real, do you have a stash????? 0]
We also got a T shirt from the boat. I saw him coming and started looking for my bottle, I guess I drank it all. I couldn't find it and had to borrow a bottle from the boat next to me. They didn't know what was going on and his wife got the shirt they threw over.

eddie what do you mean you think you drank it all. I have never seen that poison cross your lips. I am thinking either a crack in the bottle allowed it to escape or Mrs eddie mistook it for the Jack Daniels after she had a few J D's. Good thing for RO hookin' you up.

ASH,
Welcome to the board. I recognize your name/boat/pictures from fastboats.info
Welcome to the board and thanks for posting info about your boat. It's a great ride!
My wife and I live in Arizona now, but in about 18 months are moving to Ft. Leavenworth, KS which is on the Missouri River south of you. If you don't mind, we'll probably contact you or some other local boaters for some info about boating the river and the local area as we've never lived there and have no idea of the boating culture around the area.

Greg

Darn, I was wanting to tow my rig to AZ and let you show me the ropes out there. Anyway, as far as boating goes. You are in luck. Right in your backyard (Leavenworth, KS) is Lake Perry. It is about 40 miles away, a smaller lake, but good boating. Also, a lot of folks in Leavenworth make the trip every weekend to LOTO. It is about a 3 hr drive (approx. 180 mi). I have been doing 2 to 2 1/2 hrs every weekend for as long as I can remember. However, if your not much on travelling, you could at least do the LOTO thing a couple times a year. Believe me, it is worth it. (right ash?) I know 18 mo. is a way off yet, but when it is time, look up us LOTO guys, we will show you a good time!!!

Hey AZ, what can I say about moving to the midwest. You will either love it or hate it. The boating where you are moving is not the same as where I live. NO ONE in their right mind would ever put a boat on the river near KC when you have Lake of the Ozarks 2 1/2 hours away. We are meeting some new people this weekend on Lake Perry ( 30 mins north of Leavenworth ) I have never been to the lake but it sounds like a fairly good lake to boat. I have to boat in the river because it is all we have. Our stretch of the river is channeled better and offers a little more than the KC area. I am sure if you are an avid boater you will have all this figured out in about 2 days after you arrive. I am thinking you will be making the trip to Lake of the Ozarks every weekend like everyone else in KC and St Louis does. If you have never been hold on to your hat. You will absolutely not beleive what you see down there. Hope you like SNOW!!!!!!!!!!

Curt/ASH,
Thanks for the great responses! Yeah, 18 months is pretty far away, but when I know where I'm heading next I start looking for a new lake. My wife and I are in the Army and move around alot. It's a PITA sometimes but we get to check out new places/faces every few years.
ASH, as far as the river goes, you confirmed what I thought about it...the last trip I took to Leavenworth, the river in KC or even by the post did NOT look too inviting and I don't think I would drop my Baja in it. From your pictures, your stretch of the river looks MUCH better than where I will be. If Lake Perry is only 40 miles away, that sounds great to me b/c I now drive 3.5 hours on the weekend just to get to the Phoenix lakes.
I'm not too adverse th the snow/bad weather. My last assignment was in South Korea, and the winters can get pretty nasty there. Arizona's really been nice b/c I can boat virtually all year.
Curt, thanks for the LOTO information. Great to see that it is only 180 miles from where I'll be. We don't mind driving long distances. Havasu is 6 hours from us and we head up several times a year.
Thanks for all the advice. I know our move is sometime in the future, but we look forward to meeting up with you guys.
later,
Greg

Pit did you see the tractor on fastboats????????? I am sure I havent posted any pics here ( havent found out how ). That actually wasnt our tractor, and a friend of mine used printshop to put me on the wheel of the darn thing. Although we have had our share of things stuck in the mud. Just monday we had a center pivot get stuck and it did not shut off like it was supposed to. So after it got stuck it stayed in the same place and watered overnight. That was a treat.
I am staying at the state park (near Lazy Days) for this weekend and the next is either MM 12 or MM 17 or state park again.
Later dude.

Hey Ash! Yes she is very Beautiful and your lucky to have such a cool wife. Really though you always seem to be the center of attention in your group just like I am in my group. I currently have a 272 now but I'm moving to 29' Outlaw poss. in the spring. I have my boat sold now but our season is so short makes it hard to justify the extra $$$.
