Just wanted to say hello, I just joined the forum late last night. It has been great reading all the info from the group and I decided to get involved myself. My wife and i bought our 20 outlaw back in September and its been nice reading that others love their Baja as much as we do. Also my wife wanted me to thank everyone for all the ideas they gave me for my winter projects on the boat, all I can say is she got a new truck and I got a new boat. Fair don't you think?

I got her a Toyota Tacoma double cab loaded to the gills, I guess I just got lucky that I married a girl who likes trucks and fast boats.

Welcome aboard. I have an 03 202 Islander which shares alot with the 20 Outlaw. How do you like the morse controls and have you had a hard time finding neut. on yours? Just wondering it seems like many do and there seems to be no fix. At least it cuts down on who drives them as many can not start boat first time. The more you use it it does get easier to find but it seems like it could be better.

I had been reading about the issues with the controls, and I to have had the same problem. I have been used to it though as my old Sea Ray Sundancer also had the same problem, but I had to deal with it on twins. I had talked with the guys at my dealership and we decided it is just the nature of the beast. I must say my dealer (Shadrack watersports) has been great to deal with. When I purchase the boat it had a couple of problems, the trim gauge did not work and the tack worked when it wanted to, they fixed both quickly with no other problems. I had owned boats before and it never fails when you buy a boat there is always something that needs to be taken care of even if only minor. I am just glad my dealer is great about taking care of you after the sale.

Haulinvols,
Welcome aboard...glad to see you have decided to join in. What lake do you guys boat at? What is the water like down there? Any pictures of the boat? Sounds like you & the admiral fit right in with the rest of the gang. It appears most of us are very lucky to have understanding wives and also share the passion of boating.

Thanks Seize n Ticket, We boat on Ft. Loudon lake and Tellico lake. They are part of the wonderful TVA damn system. Both meet together and form part of the Tennessee river, they are quite wide in areas and have plenty of coves to hang out in. Alas i am the only baja in out group but we have all known each other for years. As far as the water is concerned on the weekends if you are not in a Baja you better be in something big with all the 30ft plus cruisers we have around here make one heck of a wave machine. You see Knoxville is Sea Ray country and you are just not showing off your wealth if you are not driving a 38 foot boat pushing water because you are afraid that if you get up on plain that you are going to have to pump in more gas because you purchased too much boat. But enough of my soap box. Our Bajas laugh at rough water right?

Thast funny,
Here in NYC, the same goes, except the boats of choice are the CIGARETTE TOP GUNS, and SKATERS. I remember one time the look on the guys face when I blew by his Cigarette in my Hammer. That was funny. However I wouldnt dare do that with a guy in a Skater as we all know those outboard cats do well over 100MPH.

Come down to LOTO and let the five footers bounce off the rock walls and come back at you crazy eyed. :headspin
30' Sea Rays are the small ones :spineyes
:bigwave Glad you made it and nice to have you on. Love to see some pictures of your lake, truck, boaters or what ever you have.

Blake i here ya. Bottom line is I would rather hear the rumble of a v8 than the whine of an outboard, but thats just me. I could probably count on my hands the number of performance boats around here, for what ever reason you just do not see a bunch around. Most of what you see here are wake boats and run-about bow riders along with the larger cruisers. Probably because we are between forks of the river where most Sea Rays are built, and tellaco where we have a couple of wake boat builders namely moomba and mastercraft. Since i purchased my Outlaw, and started paying notice, I have seen a couple of Fountains, some Formulas, and a couple of Bajas. The only performance boat dealer close to here that i know of is Shadrack where I purchased mine.

Thanks Chris, I am probably one of the few people that have downsized. I went from a 310 Sundancer with twin 454s that i sold a few years ago to my current Baja, but that is because I had moved to northern Colorado. Our boat fits for now, but you are correct, I see at least a 25 Outlaw in the future as soon as i am finished paying off the wifes truck. That was the deal and I for one am sticking to it.:armed

Vols,
I welcome you to the site with hesitation:ohyeah being a tried and true Kentucky Bluegrass fella myself I cant just open up you know? I used to go to watch the games down there it was only a few hours. I must say ppl. in the northeast (atleast NY) have no concept of what college football is. You have us in football but obviously roundball is better played in horse country.

Pancepance, regarding the round ball I would have to agree with you, it will take some time but i think if we can keep a coach here for more than a couple of years we might be able to make some better improvements. I will add that regardless of outcome, I have always enjoyed the games at Kentucky. It is a great stadium to watch some football. How about we put the rivalry to rest and just give a big go SEC.

Vols,
Since its New Years Eve and all I guess its OK to concede. SEC is the most rock solid confrence all around, I'll also give you that after spending time in both places Ive found that TN ladies are just a touch above KY ladies and thats sayin a whole lot.
Its kinda funny though, you guys kick our A$$'s so bad in football we all look at it more as a drinking day than a football day. HA!
Nice to met 'ya
Happy New Year

Matt,
I know exactly what you mean about the cruisers not getting on plane. We boat at LOTO where the water gets extremely rough due to all the crusiers. Hell, there everywhere and can really piss a guy off sometimes. People bitch about how rough it is at the lake and how all the power boats (go fast) are the ones causing the problems. I don't get it. You hardly ever see a Baja or any other preformance boat dragging ass making huge rollers...like the crusiers. Okay, I will get off my little rant for now. Take care.

Hey Matt,:bigwave
Glad to see another 20 OL owner out there. There is another 20 owner on my lake named Matt so I had to double-check where you are boating.
I've had mine since July and have not been disappointed. I also have the neutral switch slop but just consider it an extra-sensative safety feature.
Have you had a chance to go WOT? I'm curious about your top end. I've hit 60.1 on GPS but that was under non-ideal circumstances.

Hey Kent, It's funny about the other Matt with a 20, but since Ali and I purchased ours I have not seen another one on the lake around here. I have been WOT a couple of times near the end of the season, I was not able to GPS it then as I had not gotten my GPS yet. I have noticed mine does better in the morning with a light to moderate chop, it helps to get some air under the hull. Per the factory speedo (not that accurate) I am probably doing around 60-65. I can not wait to find out for sure this summer. These 20s are little rockets, I have raised a few eyebrows with it, especially with one 27 fountain around here, but I won't brag too much just yet. :party

Jay,
A simple as it sounds, we power boaters are always getting the blame. It seems like common sense would prevail here; however, if it was that easy it would never have been an issue. It seems each year there is an article or two in the paper about us terrible power boaters who have no respect for the lake. Hopefully, one of theses days someone will figure it out and give us the props we deserve for being courteous and safety conscious.

Welcome Matt!:tiphat
I to stepped down from a 23' Larson Hampton cuddy... Anyway the 20 Outlaw is what got me back into boating, and after the test ride I became a go fast fanatic. Almost bought the 20 but was able to find a used Hammer on the same lake.

My wife cringes as well, after I had the boat winterized my dealer called to let me know it was finished and to just slide in a little comment about the new 23 Outlaw and new 245 that will be out soon. It does not matter what you have there is always the temptation for something more. Thats why we have different models to choose from, if we all liked the same thing we would all still be driving Ford model Ts.
