Are there any noise laws at LOTO?

There are noise laws at LOTO which can be a pain. Boats built before 1996 can not be over 86 decibels at 50 feet regardless of speed. Boats newer than 1996 have to pass both laws, which includes the above and an additional, which consists of not being over 90 decibels at idle 3 feet from the transom. I believe I have these right. They normally will not mess with you as you run down the lake, but they may test your boat if ideling in their vicinity and you draw attention to yourself for something else. Hope this helps.

I was talking to 1 of the Water Patrol officers I see all the time at LOTO about it when I was going to put headers on a boat..
He said, if I pull you over for reckless driving and you curse me...you will get a ticket for every violation I can think of...other than that, don't crank it up in a cove late at night....welcome aboard!

That is the same thing I have seen at the lake. Unless you are doing something else to draw their attention to you they are most likely going to let a little noise go by without a ticket. I think they are pretty fair about the noise issue.

That's the same thing.I was told.
After we intalled the gill exhaust with no muffler's, I'am
at 116 decibles at the transom.
Water patrol has as much authority as a state trooper
so messing:noway is not a very good option.

Hello
I am thanking of coming to LOTO this summer to run with all of you. I have twin 500s that I took the muffler tips off of and put angle cuts. It's real loud my wife and I don't drink or anything. We just don't like beaning hassled by the law. We do have the option of running through the props but with 500s any thing over 3200 RPM you need to go through the transom. So any input or toughs would be helpful:skull

HP, my boat is the same way. Technically illegal. However, Missouri Water Patrol are easy to spot. When I see one, I just make sure my rpms are right, flip the switch and let him go by. After he is gone, back to loud!!! Just realize missouri has a law and use common sense and you will have no problems.:cheers

I need a few beers to get out on that lake on holiday weekends...at the lake in the summer is the only time my wife and I drink...I've still got 3 beers left out of a 2 yr old 12 pack at home. ;)
I don't think they will bother you hp....there are 3 boats on the Niangua arm that you can hear a mile away and I've seen them go by with Water Patrol sitting right there...they never bother them.

You may wnat to rethink your comment about MSWP being easy to spot...I remember a few times we did not spot them until it was to late :o I will confess it was early in the morning though. :party

I have heard that the lake is EVIL, but I just don't see it. It has never caused us to do anything that would be considered inappropriate.:dancingjalepeno :headspin I am sure Don, Barb, Curt and Katie can all vouch for that. Can't wait to see what happens next.
