Just got back from the Houston boat show. Baja (Marine Max) had the most powerboats, no contest! There is an awesome 40 Outlaw wiht tripple HP500EFI's, Airconditioning..loaded! And a killer 33 Outlaw with an awesome Custom Touch Graphics (Austin TX). David does spectacular work! And of course a new 30 Outlaw (see pics for the price of this boat, and the other Baja's at the show).
Drove down with Brian Angerhofer aka ThumpenHammer, and met up with Alan and Carina, aka NEWOUTLAW. Also ran into Trey Townsend (his 40 Outlaw is for sale!).
Got a bunch of pics. Click HERE to view them. (http://n5cwm.dynip.com/houstonboatshow/) I was going to load them into the TBM photo gallery but it would take too long so I did a quick website on my own computer. If you get a message that they aren't available, try again later. Only 6 users at a time can be connected to my machine.
For those of you planning on attending, it costs 7 bucks to park and 7 bucks per adult to get in. Lots of stuff to see besides boats! Jetskis, ski boats, pontoons, runabouts, fishing boats and gear. Marine Max also has a large display of cruisers such as Sea Ray.
Overall it was a pretty good show but I wish there were more powerboat manufacturers there!

Thanks for the tour Chris
If you go back to the show ask how high the 40 is setting on the trailer. Is the extra 4 feet of a 40 in the engine room for the third engine over a 36. I have never seen a 40 in person and I would like to have one. My garage door is only 10 foot high:skull

It wasn't too crowded at the boatshow, but parking sucked because there was a soccer game at the adjoining facility.
Around 6 PM the show attendees started to head home but the show goes on till 9PM (check the webpage for times).
As for measuring the 40 on the trailer, I won't be going back to the show. Sorry but you'll have to find out otherwise. Their 40 at the show wasn't even on a trailer. Some trailers ride higher than others too. I do know that it's about 16,000 lbs boat and trailer. What are you going to tow it with? They recommend a "gooseneck" trailer with a 5th wheel hitch in a 3/4 ton or 1 ton duallie pickup bed.

Anyone notice the error on the 30 Outlaw pricing sheet? I'm guessing the bottom line is correct and the base price is wrong.
They used to have much better discounts when I lived in Houston. 10% off retail is pretty crappy.

Chris,
Great shots and thank you for showing the 30 Outlaw cuddy with the bench seats in the sleeping configuration. Know many can understand exactly what we mean. I will be the 30OL wins 2004 boat of the year.

My 40 will fit under a 10' opening but it is very tight, Have to make sure air bags on truck are deflated. My trailer was built with 4" drop spindles. As for the length, with motors up 53' from tip of out drive to front of gooseneck trailer.

these prices dont look very good. 290k for a 40, thats crazy. shouldnt you be able to buy these boats under this pricing

Fantastic job on the pictures! I have more ammo to hit the wife with now.:biggrin
Jim,
Typically boat show prices are not the end all-bottom line. And these prices are nothing to write home about.

Great job w/the web site and pictures! :thumbsup
I see they added oil temps on the 30 as well. I sure wish I didn't see that inside hull picture, I think they should finish those areas if they have a compartment that opens. Sure takes away from the boat.

Bruce, There's a group of us going. But if we go Friday, just 4. We have a surprise birthday party to go to Saturday evening. Of course Friday is less crowded and a good day to really do some serious looking (even though i'm not serious). I should know tomorrow which day. Keith

Bruce, just talked to the misses and it looks like it will be Friday. Sorry not Saturday. But it will be different not putting up with the crowds on Saturday. I wish i was ready to upgrade, because this would be a perfect opportunity. Just gonna keep on dreaming. I know you'll be coming in on I-45 so not much of a chance meeting up. We live off 59 in Kingwood near Humble which is where we will be Saturday evening for dinner. Are you staying the nite Sat. Keith

Keith,
We are staying with a buddy. Not sure of where it is though, I'll let you know. All I know is it is on the south side.
On another note, the wife wants to go back to Houston for the Superbowl. Obviously we won't be able to get tickets, but where is THE place to party for the game???:dancingjalepeno

January 15th, 2004, 04:57 PM
If your on the southside then you'll be closer to Reliant Center for the boat show. I'm probably about 40 minutes from Reliant depending on traffic. Super Bowls gonna be crazy around here! I've never experianced anything like this. Probably anyplace will be party place. I saw today they're having a big celebration downtown. And then all the stuff going on at Reliant days before the game. I just checked my schedule, i'm working 24 hours the 29th and 24 hours the 31st. Will be getting off at 6:30 a.m. on the 1st. This is my regular shift so doesn't look like any overtime during that time. Honestly, i'll be staying in my area out north to celebrate game day.

rookie question here..
is the Baja 245 pictured on the first page the same as a H2X? I see it has the drop down front seats which I didnt think were available on the H2X??
haulinvols
January 16th, 2004, 10:42 PM
According to my dealer the 245 is an all new boat, it is taking the place of the 232. From what he tells me they wanted to make it more similar to the 275. It has the new deck design with the oval hatches like the 275. It also has the new running lights on each side instead of the single bow light. The berth is now a true v not the slanted version in the 232. That was the reason for making it longer than the current 232. It will be similar in size to a H2X but with the stand up bolsters and full windshield or wind screen like the one pictured. Hope this helps. :biggrin

you have to SIT when driving the H2X...no bolsters...I'm 5'11" and would have to bend over at a 45* angle to drive mine standing.
that boat has a deeper cockpit so you can use them and stand....looks like they quit making the 252,not on their site.

is there nothing on the baja site or in the brochures about this boat (the 245)??
I was planning on calling my dealer in the am to close the deal on a 04 H2X but he had never mentioned anything about this boat nor had I seen it in the brochure or on the baja site.

I dont want to get this thread side too sidetracked..
is the 496HO worth it in the H2X over the regular 496? dealer says to go with the 496 but im hankering for the HO

welcome to the site...that is a he!! of a good looking boat!
Base Price (MSRP) $54,000.00 Price as Tested N/A
LOA 24' 5'' Dry Weight 4,100 lbs.
Beam 8' 4'' Fuel Cap 80 gal.
Draft(engines up) 34'' Water Cap: 9 gal.
Deadrise/Transom 23 deg. Bridge Clearance ~
Max Headroom 4' 4''
www.boattest.com/detailed...rom_gi=Yes (http://www.boattest.com/detailed-info.aspx?ID=632&lg_username=&from_gi=Yes)
looks like it replaces the 252.....200lbs heavier than the H2X...H2X has a 21 degree deadrise and the cuddy access is only for kids, more of a hotrod and is very quick to plane and fast...cockpit is very small but a blast to drive...no anchor locker on the bow or handrails..easy to fall off when anchoring...
I have also had 232's and a 252, they all handle LOTO about the same...great boats...most ppl. get the windshield option in the performance series...I like the windscreen as shown in the pic's...I also like driving them better because I like the bolster seats and more cockpit room....H2X out performs in my opinion....
