I was talking with Blake on another thread and I thought he was picking his new toy up at the factory. I guess you cant from what he tells me. Why dont you guys do what another American icon does with the Corvette. Have a customer pick up code with the purchase. You can charge a little extra money. have pictures taken and framed into a gallery and maybe some type of custom delivery service. my next baja will be a 33 outlaw or ?? and if you had such a program i would go for it. I dont know maybe I am on the wrong path but to me buying a Baja is something special just like buying a vette. You guys should think about it..

Thanks

P.S. Start with Blakes boat and more will follow...:biggrin

we picked up what was supposed to be the last Vette Convertible made in '75 on a car hauler for a salvage yard owner in Schreveport Louisianna...he had 1 of every vette made from the beginning.....he paid sticker+ for it and we had calls from Paul Newman, Rupert Murdoch, rock stars and athletes, ppl. from all over the world looking for the owner....he was offered $225k and they said we would get $25k for helping and delivering it...and thats just the one's we knew about,,,he wouldn't sell it! If I remember right sticker was only about 10k
The car came with a Leather bound book about 6 inches thick that listed every part down to nuts and bolts with a complete history of corvettes and it own history....

Perhaps the last 29 OL.....naaaaaaaaaaa.

They made us pick it up at a dealer!
I wonder if it's still worth $25k now that they make 'em again!

I am confused? You delivered a 75 vette to a guy and he was offered 225,000. for it? I have owned numerous corvettes and the only high dollar vette s that go over 100,000 are the 53 and some 66 or 67 with big blocks in them. I have never heard of a 75 for going in that price range? That year were smog legal slugs. I would have to go through my books but I think the most wanted is a 67 L88 with a 427in it, something like that. I am not in the mood to go look the info up.

we picked up what was supposed to be the last Vette Convertible made in '75 on a car hauler for a salvage yard owner He bought what was supposed to be the last vette convertible ever made....theres only 1.
They quit making them in 75 remember....
I wonder what it's worth now that they make 'em again...
These weren't corvette nut's...they were collectors from countries you wouldn't think even had roads....we really didn't care, were bothered by them in fact, until the $25 K offer to us if we talked him into selling...
We bought damaged cars from this guy and he asked us to pick it up for him...he may have owned a salvage yard but he was worth millions and wanted the car not the money...he has a new/or almost new model of every vette made in a big building in Schreveport....at least he did in '84 the last time I talked to him!

As I mentioned in another post, the dealers must take delivery of the boat so it can be prepped properly. Baja simply assembles the boat. I dont think Baja has the resources or time to start tweaking boats for delivery and thus it would be cutting the dealers out of thier share as this is how they make their coin. I am paying $1,600 for a prep fee from my dealer which I am told includes tuning and aligning the engines, putting the props on, cleaning the boat and making sure everything works after the trip from the factory.

Funny thing is Blake,
After you pay the money for the engine alignment and all, you run 20 hrs, and guess what?
Back to the service dept. for the exact same service again. Probalby on the twins should be about five or six hundred bucks again. Remove the drives, change the lube, align them, the whole nine yards. Definately worth it though.

Around $900.00 at BTM with oil change for a twin, May have included Drive Alignment!

I didnt know that picking up the boat at the factory was something that didnt happen. I just assumed that there was the occasional pick up there. So, that probabally makes me one of the very few who have picked up their boat at the factory.
I picked mine up from the factory last march. It is a 03' 340SF. I was told the reason I was able to pick it up from the Baja factory was because the boat I bought was there original advertisement / test / boat show boat and they wanted it back before anyone took delivery of it to "go thru" the boat to make sure everything was up to par. I did see and run this boat down in FLA before it ever got back to the dealer and didnt notice anything wrong with it (and i was all over that thing) The dealer i was dealing with was out of Ohio anyway so i would be driving out to Ohio to pick it up. By picking it up at the factory it saved me two hours on my trip. My sales man met me at the dealer and i also got a complete tour of the factory.
I will have to say, the tour, made the trip that much more worth while. It was pretty enlighting to see the whole process. If you ever get the chance to tour the factory....DO IT!! You wont be disapointed.

If I were spending the money to have a new Baja built, I'd really be excited to have the opportunity to get a tour of the factory while my boat were being built.

As for delivery, the Corvette Museum delivery process is pretty cool. I'd love to get that chance someday. The new C6 so far is much more appealing than the C5.

If Baja were reluctant to offer tours, then a few pictures of the boat in different stages of assembly would definitley suffice!

I was testing a feature that my Sony digital still camera has.
Now I need to get on the lake and have my buddy Brian in his Hammer run along side me so I can get the 25 in an avatar.

Megan Elizabeth is our babies' name. She's a little over 6 months, born 19 July 2003. Thankfully she's healthy and happy! I wonder what her first word will be..the way things in the house are now, it'll be something we yell at one of our three dogs every time they get into something. NO! STOP IT!
I'm hoping her first word will be Cummins or Baja or airplane, something cool. :biggrin
Back on subject.. :)
Anybody here had the factory tour? Are they still offering tours to the public, and if so can ya bring a camera?

The factory tour is always available by request, there is no formal tour per say with a group on a daily basis. If you want to see the factory, make a call and let them know and they will be happy to oblige. I am told you may bring a camera but there are certain things in the build process they will not let you photgraph, and I believe you have to sign some sort of disclaimer. I have plans to make my way there for a tour and a look at my 30OL in production, sometime in April. You
