Why is it people spend tens of thousands of dollars on things only to let them sit out in the weather and rot? >:
There is a really nice 29 Outlaw down the road from my subdivision. It's in a fenced-in lot near a boat repair facility.
The poor boat has been sitting out in the open, no cockpit cover on it, for several months now! I stopped by and took closer look at it and asked about the boat. I was told it is in for outdrive service and the owner never put a cover on it.
We've had heavy rains, freezes, days of direct sunlight. I'm sure that the thing is trashed by now. Moldy carpet, upholstery, grunge in the bilge. I didn't even look to see if the drain plug was removed. Probably has 2 feet of water in the engine compartent and cabin. :nono
Also I was driving down 105 near the lake here and one of the new (last year!) 33 Outlaws with the blue custom paintjob by Custom Touch Graphics (Austin TX) was on a trailer headed towards Conroe. The sides of this boat were scratched and chipped like you wouldn't believe! Some people have too much money and NO common sense.
:rolleyes

Chris, www.teambajamarine.com/Co...=16&pos=62 (http://www.teambajamarine.com/Coppermine/displayimage.php?album=16&pos=62) I saw it for sale on line down near Clear Lake. Found it: classifieds.yahoo.com/dis...178a7058ad (http://classifieds.yahoo.com/display/aircraft?ct_hft=detailnp&intl=&cc=aircraft&cr=Texas&cids=3b0fa9bb90c3894a4acefd178a7058ad) Met him at Conroe last summer.

Gotta, I agree with you 100% At this point in my life I can only dream to own some of the boats that some on this forum own. It really chaps my hide to see anything abused regardless of the value. My boat my be one of the more inexpensive Bajas, but I take care of it like a million bucks. It breaks my heart to see something nice get ruined.:huh

When I was in the market for the best boat under $15K awhile back I ran into a 2 year old Powerquest that had been left on a lift, no cover, not winterized for the duration of an extended divorce. engine froze, interior trashed, gelcoat sunburnt for $10K. :beathead What a project. Some how spliting garbage is easier to take than maximimizing their investment. :samurai
Many times health or marital issues are behind these things.
Of course there is the other side. For some if they have enough money to buy the forest, they feel it's their right to burn all the trees.:evil

Keith, that's the one. It was on display at the January 2003 Houston boat show. My wife loves the graphics and colors on that boat. If it had HP500EFI's I'd be looking at it, for that price anyway.

Yes, he bought it the first day of the boat show last year. Actually talked to him the day after that. He was their protecting his investment. Met Jay last summer while we were anchored at the dam. Had his girlfriend and dog with him. Very nice. Let us get up in the 33 and take a look. Haven't seen him on here in a while. More pics of his boat in the photo gallery.

That boat kicks a$$
115 on a trailer is still not bad IMO
Sucks that it's been through hell but it can be fixed.

Saw it going down the road a week or so ago. The truck pulling it was not the same one that the owner (previous owner anyway) has. And the guy driving the truck had a scraggly beard and greasy baseball cap. Hmmm.
The site it's advertised on, American Yacht Sales, is also a "repo super-center".
There are some pics on the site of the boat and the speakers are gone, and it looks pretty rough.
Of course I could be wrong about the "repo" part.
I wonder if they'd take an offer in the $90's.... :smokin

Chris, your right on about American Yacht being known for repos. And i did notice the speakers being gone. Again, we don't know what has happened here but hope the very best for Jay. Actually i just remembered, his girlfriend at the time works with the wife of a fire fighter i know. Maybe i'll do some checking. Craig, you never now, you might be on. You might try to call Mr. Baja at Marinemax. Dave knows that boat very well. I don't know if he sold it to Jay last year but possibly. I was talking to Dave about it at the Houston show in January. He knows "the condition" of the 33 very well. It was a beautiful boat at the boat show a year ago. Maybe again!!!!!

Good morning all,
Yes, I do know the boat very well and I did sell it to Jay. I don't remember if it was this thread or another but someone had mentioned the fact of it being a good buy for the money (or something to that effect). True, the boat is very nice and I am also very good friends with Dave Morgan at Custom Touch Graphics who painted the boat. Bottom line is the boat will (at least the last time I saw it) need at least another $10-15K worth of work minimum...mostly cosmetic but I am very sure some mechanical as well. It is very unfortunate what happened to Jay because he is really a great guy and I consider him not only a customer but a friend as well. $90,000 for the boat would be a great buy (as if none of us knew that one) but I very highly doubt the bank will take that. At $115K they are probably already loosing a ton of money being how new the boat was and for what I know it sold for. My guess is it will sit for a while before it sells...hopefully they will keep it covered and clean it up a little to try and hold the value (or at least for my sake...try selling a new 2004 when you have that to compete against)!!!!
Later all,
MR BAJA!

Just because a boat is repo'd doesn't mean it has to be in bad shape. What happened to it. Did this Jay guy, just treat it like dog chit while he owned it, was it vandalised or what? Anybody know?
