Gang,
I have just recieved confirmation from one of my clients that I will be heading out on the open road starting February 8 till March 8th. Where will I be you ask? Here are the dates and cites:
02/08/04 Vancouver, BC
02/09/04 Seattle, WA
02/11/04 San Francisco, CA
02/13/04 Phoenix, AZ
02/14/04 Los Angeles, CA
02/15/04 Las Vegas, NV
02/17/04 Albuquerque, NM
02/20/04 San Antonio, TX
02/21/04 Galveston, TX
02/24/04 Chicago, IL

02/26/04 Toronto, ON
02/28/04 Atlantic City, NJ
02/29/04 New York, NY

What does this mean? As I would love to meet everyone in each state, the dates are very close together, so anotherwords, I do my show and then off to the next city. So I dont think there will be any time for socializing.
I will have my computer on the road to stay on the boards, but the OWNERS REGISTRY will not get updated nor will requests for MERCHANDISE be filled untill March 8, 2004.

Kid Rock actually hangs out in the Kansas City area with Hank Williams Jr. from time to time. Hank was a good friend of Chief's player Derrick Thomas before he past away (I guess this is where the tie-in to this area comes from). There is a little hole in the wall Bar-B-Que place "Perry Fosters" about 40 miles east of Kansas City and they pass thorugh there each time they are in this area. Perry has Kid Rock and Hank Williams Jr. paraphernalia all over the wall...oh yeah, did I mention Pam Anderson too. Kid was on one of the rock stations a few weeks ago talking about this area and boating in his 40' Donzi :ohyeah :skull :dancinbanana We need to get him into a Baja!

Blake, as I sit here reading through this thread, it occurred to me that I sometimes forget you have a primary job that comes first. I for one really appreciate what you do here. It was 70 degrees outside last weekend and I was able to do some upgrades to the boat, now we have 2 inches of snow on the ground and I will probably be stuck inside most of the weekend. Thank god we have a place to go and get our boat fix on a regular basis, it really helps pass the cold winter until we can get out there and fire 'em up for the spring. Thanks again for your hard work. :notworthy

Hey TBM,
How did you ever get started in your field? Did you come from a theatrical and artistic background or did you come from an engineering background? I imagine you’ve got to be artistic and know about theater so you know what looks good but it seems you also need to be an engineer cause your working with electrical power budgets and stuff like that.

February 4, 2004...
Left NYC LGA airport at 12:45pm, Hardest thing to do was say goodbye to my wife for 6 weeks. Arrived in Houston, TX, deplaned and then on to Vancouver, BC. Arrived safely in Vancouver at 8:45pm (local time) after a brief immigration issue with one of our crew members. I now sit in the hotel on West Georgia St, where we will do our first set up tommorow. Till then...

And the airlines wonder why they are going under. Fly from NY to BC via Texas. LOL
Out here they do the same thing. In order to fly to Vegas west from KC, they always send you east to St Louis first.

Today was a set up day before the band arrives for rehearsals tommorow. We hung all our lights, tweaked everything so it is working 100%. Ready to rehearse and program the show with the band, not very exciting today, but a long hard day at the office. I will be posting photos to go along with the tour diary. Some of you who have no idea what goes on behind the scenes in putting together a "touring rock show" will get a first hand look at what it really takes, right here on TBM! It aint no party out here, well maybe sometimes. Till the next entry.:samurai

2 shows only. Takes more like 2 months before you actually get sick of a song and humm it for 6 months after that. But I am a pro, so I just dont really pay attention. However, the set is kick ass and the band is very tight. If anyone remembers the song Perfect Strangers, this is probably my favorite one they do and gets a strong crowd reaction.

Last night played in a seedy part of San Fransisco, the tour bus was parked on the curb with the door of the bus facing a porno theater. Outside the stage door there were crackheads doing and selling dope, no lie. Bad part of town. Show was great and the last song Joe Satriani showed up for an impromptu jam session with the band. At 3am we hit the road for a 15 hour trip to where I am now, in my hotel room ready for another show tommorow in Phoenix. more to follow.

February 16, 2004...
I write from the hotel in New Mexico, last night we played in Las Vegas at House Of Blues in Mandalay Bay, the night before we were in Los Angeles where we played at the Wiltern Theater.
Las Vegas was fun, we used all in house lights so my job was a minimum, I spend time in the casino playing roulette where I lost $100, no biggie. Alot of hotties all over the place in Vegas, not much more to say.
Loas Angeles was another good show. Not much more to report about LA, except alot of posers backstage which included a couple of guys from Ratt and Dokken who came to see Thin Lizzy.
If anyone wants to read the reviews of the show on the web, click here thehighwaystar.com/reviews/ (http://thehighwaystar.com/reviews/) This is an official Deep Purple site with fan reviews, good reading.
Another entry coming soon and I am 20 days away from being home.

Just arrived in San Antonio for 2 days off and then we play an outdoor festival in town. Last night we were in New Mexico and I gotta tell you it was like playing in a high scool auditorium, lame stage, lame crowd (sorry New Mexico) The bus ride was uneventful but a long one, I watched John Q this morning on the sattelite and what a tear jerker, great flick. Anyways, you guys would be surprised how tight both bands are on this tour, Thin Lizzy sounds good and looks great (thanks to my lighting skillz) and Deep Purple is also very tight sounding as well as very well lit (by their lighting director) Nothin but the hits on this one.

lol...if you think it's lame..I wonder how they feel...looking at the facilities and crowds in comparison to their better days...gotta be a huge letdown.
I used to play a lot of sports and pool on pretty high levels ...after listening to some "old " guy one day, I told my son if I ever start saying "well 10 tears ago I....", just shoot me...a couple of years ago he asked me if I wanted him to tell me 1st or just pull the trigger.....the kid is lucky because 10 years ago I would have beat his a$$.........

I was in DC the summer before last, and while looking over the railing at the capital, I saw them setting up for a concert on the mall. We did the tourist thing, then drifted back to see the band. It was Deep Purple. I and about 20 others were standing there right in front of the band for the "show". Thought they were great but then again, we were the ONLY ones there... :biggrin

Gang,
I write from my day hotel room in Memphis, TN. We are here because our drivers can not do the drive from San Antonio, TX (where we played last night) to Chicago straight through, so this is our halfway point. We leave Memphis at midnight tonight for our drive to Chicago.
San Antonio was interesting to say the least, we played at the Mardi Gras celebration in the middle of the street on a makeshift stage, this place was nuts from early morning till about 2am (when the bars close) It was just like the New Orleans Mardi Gras, just in Texas. Alot of people in the streets and people hanging on balconies throwing beads down to the people in the street. Only thing I didnt see was naked breasts for a set of beads. I guess that is where the real mardi Gras celebration comes into play or maybe if there was a GIRLS GONE WILD camera team there, maybe I would have seen the naked breasts. Other than that, just another show. Onto Chicago tonight and just a few more days till I am back home!
missouri
February 23rd, 2004, 01:59 AM
You'll be coming thru St.Louis on I-55 from Memphis about 5 in the morning, 5 more to Chitown....next to New Orleans, St.Louis has the largest Mardi Gras celebration in the US....
tell the driver to take the I -255 bypass around St.Louis/East St.Louis, besides being a lot faster, when you get to hwy. 15 in Illinois get off, make a right and another one at the 2nd stoplight to the topless bars.....ask for Humphrey and tell em Dan sent ya......
