Those of you who have 2000 – 2003 boats with the black rocker switches on the dash know how easily the white lettering rubs off the switch covers. This year I decided to replace all of mine on the upper part of the dash with white switch covers. I did so even though the black ones I removed still look brand new. They still look brand new because I’m so anal I made sure I never touched the lettering with anything.

At any rate, if any of you guys want the black ones I pulled off, I will be happy to mail them to you free of charge. I can’t bring myself to throw them out if someone else can use them. Just let me know. Also – I did not swap out any of the “trim” switches over by the throttles because I never use any of those switches.

The following switch covers I can give you are:

Courtesy Lights
Stereo
Cabin Lights
Bilge
Depth Finder
Engine Hatch
Nav/Anc Lights
Exhaust
Engine Lights

Hey Outlaw29,
Are those black switches still available? I could really use them, as mine no longer have any white lettering on them. :(
Please email me at smarciano@the-ark.com to discuss.
Thanks! :tiphat

Hey 25,

Thanks for your interest. I had some takers from over on another forum.

At any rate, it really sucks having switches where you have to worry about the writing wearing off. That's why I went with white.

Another forum? There is no other forum, I HATE FORUM CROSS POSTING!!! Too much of it, guys.

Yesterday afternoon I put the post on TBM and nowhere else. Between yesterday afternoon and this morning I had about 50 views with no response. As a result of no response here, I went ahead and put the post somewhere else. Within about 5 minutes over there, I had to beat them off with a stick. What can I say.

I wonder if that says something about TBM members vs. members other places. TBM members must be pretty picky if you can't even get them to take stuff for free!! I wonder what that means?

Outlaw29 thanks anyway, but I guess the early bird gets the worm...
LOL - I noticed that you had 50 views this morning and no takers - I thought that was odd also. It made me think twice about replying, but as an old friend used to say "If it's free, its for me!"0]

I agree with Blake - "there is no other forum" ;)

OUTLAW 29, Where did you get the white switches through Baja? Did you change the whole switch or just the cover? I need to change my (black) trim and trailering switches and wondering how to do it?

The switches are made by Carling Switch but they only sell to large electrical distributors who in turn don't want to sell to the little guys like us. I ended up getting mine from my local Baja dealer for about $4.00 each. I went with white so I wouldn't have to worry about the lettering coming off. I was able to only buy the switch covers and did not have to buy the whole switch. (Carling’s technical term for the switch cover is “actuator”).

I did go directly thru Carling to obtain the little tool for removing the actuator. I was able to sweet-talk a girl in sales to send me 2 of the tools for free. She told me their sales system does not even have the ability to charge for something as petty as 2 actuator removal tools so she wrote them off as “demo” items and sent them to me free. You may be able to remove the actuator without the tool but I have not tried. The tool makes is so easy even I could do it.

OUTLAW 29, I had to replace my stereo switch and Baja told me i wouldn't be-able to get the cover off because there was a "tool" I ended up buying the whole switch that was around $25.00 (ouch). So what you are saying i can just buy the trim and trailer covers from Baja and replace my old looking black 1's? What does THE TOOL look like? Maybe i can borrow it? Thanks for your help.

Baja is right - there is a tool for pulling of the switch cover but I'm sure there is a way to get it off without the tool. The "tool" is made of plastic and sells for $0.75.

Go to the following link and you will see what the "tool" looks like. The link is a PDF file. Scrool down to page 9 of the PDF file (page 56 of the catalog) and you will see the tool.

Outlaw29,
Thats cool, I am not slamming you. I am happy you gave us first dibs. I just have been seeing alot of "double posting" and it is annoying when reading and trying to keep up with all this great info we can get from the internet.
