Does anyone know anything about these? I found this one on ebay and am interested in buying it.

There use tobe alot of those running around here back in the 80's. They porpus like crazy and will beat you to death in chop over 10 inches, but other than that, they were a fun little boat.

That motor doesnt look so good tho.

I remember those, even drove a couple! :headbang2 $hooter's comments are dead on. The porpoising was a weight and balance issue. The boat is set up for an 80lb kid to drive, so with a 200lb man you need to shift your weight a bit to balance the boat....and you can't. Try to get in one before you buy it if you're over 6'. Still, it was pretty fast in it's day and it's relatively cheap to hot rod a 20 hp Johnson. Would be a fun toy. 30mph feels like flying and with the right setup (i.e. a $10-$15k race outboard) it might hit 50+ with a 100lb girl driving. For me, I also like the Scat Cat name as that was a cheap/fun model airplane we used to fly a lot of back then.

U got a small lake for that thing Wayne?

I do.

I am thinking of just messing around with this thing. I would hardly ever drive it, more of a hobby to fix it up. Maybe put a small 4 stroke on it and center the steering wheel to help balance?? A trim tab??

Small 4 stroke...MY ASS!!! I gots a nice little 540 sitting over in the corner doing nothing with 652 HP that would work out really nice in that thing...:24: :24: I dont think there is any question that it will run into the century mark...but NOT with me in it.

Most of the people around here that had them had 20 or 25HP clamp-ons on them. The things would scoot in flat water even with a 20 on the back. There are still a couple of them running out on Granbury Lake southwest of Fort Worth. If you do get it...mount the battery as far up in the nose as possible to try to equal out the weight thing.

We'll have to see how much he wants for this thing. I am the highest bidder but the reserve isn't met. I will wait till an hour out to bid again....I am not going over $600 on this thing though and doubt the reserve is less than $800.

Save the 4-stroke for a pontoon. The last thing you want to do is put more weight in the ass end. The problem is front-rear; they're tail heavy. Has much the same effect as too much drive trim. Besides, whatever is wrong with that motor can be fixed for a song unless it's just run out. If it runs at all, I'd think $1k was a good price....but bet it goes for more than that.

I think tabs go in the front on a cat. :rolleye00
