View Full Version : `04 BAJA IS SOLD OUT

Hey all ...
Just talked with a dealer discussing boat sales this so far year.

Seems Baja is sold out except for the 2 smaller models. I was asking in hopes that Baja may re-start the incentives late spring like last year. Ain't gonna happen. Baja is concerned that they ran the incentives too early since dealers will likely run out of new stock by Memorial Day leaving dealers with nothing till the 05's hit.

So if you want a new 04 Baja, what is at the dealer is all there is.

I was still considering a new 30, but the one coming to my local dealer was bought by a neighboring dealer before it arrived. And I'll be damned if I'm getting into a bidding war on a boat I'm convinced it priced too high. Guess buyers disagree.:(

For the money, I still think that the 33 is a much better buy. My $.02

Jeff,
You are correct, the model year ends in July and Baja has a full "boat" so to speak, orders now taken, will be for 2005 boats and you will be lucky if you see them anytime before September. You could still walk in to a dealer and buy off the floor, this is where many dealers have levearge this time of year on their inventory, such as Hawkeye, they have a ton of boats in stock and will get the prices they want because anyone who has the spring bug will not want to wait, they will buy on the spot.

So if orders taken now are for the 05 model, when do they change the graphics? I can hear you guys already you are probably thinking that silly guy with the silly graphics questions. But hey it will give you guys something to think about. Also any update on the power nav light option?

My guess is anything ordered now will definitely be an `05 model. Unfortunately for you, I don't think they start the build process till June on next the model year, I may be wrong.
As far as I know, maybe they have a build time set aside for foreign customers. There may be a lot of things they do for foreign dealers we have no clue about.

The graphics will change with the 05 build. So if you don't have a confirmed `04 order with `03 graphics and you order a new Baja, my guess is you would pick from 05 graphics unless its a custom job.
Based on Baja's past record they usually run two years of the same graphics options with little changes. So what you see in `04 is very close to what they will offer in `05.

Also expect about an 8% increase in price.:beathead

The build for the new 2005's will probably start late in the year, (they have to complete all the 2004's first) the 2005 graphics should be unveiled in July. The 30OL electric navigation light is not offered because of where it is placed on the boat, dead center behind the sunpad, there just isnt room for it in the engine compartment. I do like that the nav light is centered.

Now I know what you guys are talking about. For the life of me I could not figure out what you guys meant by an "electric navagation light." Your talking about the stern light.;) I have heard them referred to as an anchor light but never a nav light. I just assumed you were talking about the side lights. I have seen those in electric too. They flip down like head lights on a vette. MXBAJA421 has electric side lights on his 29 Outlaw. Everyone I have seen though usually has problems.(including Chad) I'll stick with my basic side lights, just something else electrical to go wrong around water.

As far as the light goes, look at the bright side. It will cost Baja considerably less not to have to install an electric light. That cost savings will most certainly be passed down to the dealer who will in turn pass it down to the buyer. Right?

Does anyone know how many boats Baja builds on a good year? What about a bad year?

Back in 2000 they told me they were building about 1500 boats a year.

Funny they are sold out and the rummor here is Baja called our local dealer that is land locked and told him he had to sell 30 boats this year. He said can't do it and he lost the line.

"My River Home" used to sell most of the Baja's on the mississippi (Alton Pool) but was a b!tch to get to by land..they had a marina, brokered boats and Baja.....Big Thunder opened a store right off the Interstate in the old Wellcraft building which happened to be on the way to MRHome......MRH dropped Baja and BT closed that store a year later. Thats why I have to laugh at the buying in your district or no incentives rule.
Now in all fairness they may have been dropping Baja anyway, it's one side of the story but thats not what they told me and they still had new one's long after BT was open. They said it was a combination of competition and ppl. buying on the net.

Had electric nav light on our 2000 Cobalt and just put one in the Outlaw. They are the next best thing to sliced bread. I never had a problem with the one on the Cobalt and had over 340 hours on it when we sold it.

I picked one up for ASH and it's installed on the 38 as well.

Pit - that's the light. Nice not to have to fumble around at night trying to find the pole and having someone stick it in. :headspin

I just installed one on our 25 Outlaw and love it!
