View Full Version : OSO Revisited...

I know this is an old wound, but I just finished reading the latest issue of Extreme Boats Magazine and it appears that the original founder of OSO, Jeffrey is no longer handling day to day ops and the site was purchased by another guy who is basically got a ton of money and is galavanting around the country in a custom OSO rig and Cigarette. I dont really follow much of the BS on OSO anymore as it is very difficult to get a handle on postings since they swing so far from the original topics, but I guess what I am asking is, can anyone shed some light on this situation? For the better now that "Adolf" has stepped down?

Jeffrey, the founder, is long out of the picture. Steve is the current owner, and I must add, is a hell of a nice guy. I know some people have differing opinions, but to each his own. The cig gladiator is his personal boat and was before he ever ran OSO, but it shouldn't make a difference. The rig and boat are primarily out a venture by the APBA, as he(and OSO) have been a major part of the races, check out who paces the races next time you catch it on tv and the GM stickers(and engines) were paid for by GM. Again a sponsorship deal.
I've met Steve on a couple of occasions, and we hung out in the rig for quite some time, I can't say anything negative about the guy.
It would be best to just let it go, but that is only my opinion.

Pit, I wouldn't say nobody. :)
No need for hostility or pressure for anyone to choose one over the other and vice versa. Choose one board, both, neither or the other board...shouldn't matter. :)

Hey BD,
Well said. You're living proof that a person can be a valued member both places.
I'm a member both places but I'm not sure about the "value" part. :spineyes

Pit,
I always liked your style!:thatsfunny After reading the article in Extreme Boats, I had no idea they changed ownership. I was just trying to makes some sense as to what is going on over there. We all know where I stand. Again, I just wanted to hear this interesting development firsthand.

I not only go to OSO, but a couple of other boards. You can never have too much information. I like this board because there are plenty of Outlaw 20 owners around and there are NONE on OSO or other sites. OSO is another beast though. Lots of money on that board. I do all right in life and I am at the low end of the income scale over there.

Let me give him credit before 1000 posts....BajaDaze doesn't post here as much as he used to...for those unfamiliar with him, he not only knows boats, he's a great guy!
I was talking to a guy with a 99 25 Outlaw loaded last June n Naples Florida trying to buy it...at 1st the guy was towing to St.Pete and Daze was gonna check it out for me...the gguy backed out of the tow and Daze voluntered to drive several hours to look at for me w/o even being asked to.
He would have done it for a dinner which was not acceptable for me, even though we never met I would have bought and shipped the boat on his word and payed him for his time...not many ppl. like him IMO!
The guy backed out of the deal to try for more money, so it never happened but I gained much respect for the man. :tiphat
Incidently Daze, did I ever tell you he got back with me a month or so later to see if I still wanted it! lol I told him he gambled and lost and offered 3500 less....

Well, I'll be damned...8) :) 19 posts!
Thanks guys for the kind words.
It's all good in my book. I can never get enough information and can never make enough friends in life. The more boards you/I/we enjoy, the better, I say. ;)
I'm a lighthearted guy, and like to tell it like I see it. All I can say is that Blake has poured his heart and soul into TBM and it has grown in leaps and bounds, and it shows! For that, TBM will always be a pitstop in my daily browsing. I may not post as much as I once did, but there's no particular reason for it, just a change in my internet habits, I guess...nothing more nothing less. :)
At the same time, I have to say the same for OSO. I enjoy both equally.
They're different worlds and have different things to offer.
For pure Baja, I come here. For gatherings, and Florida get-togethers, I find there are more locals I know on OSO.

That's funny...That guys should have just finished the deal, the first time! The whole thing was practically done, when he 'changed his mind.' ;)
Thanks.

Hi guys! I had at least 904 posts before my account got flushed. Add my current number to that...
:biggrin
I left OSO for good. Too much BS there. The Baja section was cool and running strong though. Much better than the Baja section on SpeedWake is right now.

That is where I started hanging out at first. There and hotboat. Thats where I heard about this sight. It just became way too political on that sight. You couldn't say one thing about a boat brand with out somebody bashing it or starting something. Plus at the time I didn't have my own and was boating with my father. So I felt like I really didn't belong.
I just check in there every once in a while to see if a couple of my boating buddies are posting about anything going on at our lake.

These guys are cool, and there is a buttload of info to gain from them.
Don't like OSO in the slightest, I'll put my $$ where I feel most at home, that would be here and SW.
