We're finally down to two boats to choose from, a 33 outlaw or a 342. Does the windscreen on the 33 outlaw actually deflect the wind above you or are you constantly facing 60 mph wind? Could you actually wear a ball cap or would it get ripped off your head by the wind. I really want the outlaw but practicality (wife, 3 year old, one year old) may force us into the 342. Would appreciate all input. Thanks

Keep in mind a 342 also comes w/ a w'screen that sits a little higher than the outlaw...

The 342 we're looking at has the windshield. My guess is you wouldn't feel a thing. Great for the wife.

Morning all....beautiful April morning here in Houston....70 outside (@8:00 AM!)...supposed to rain this week though...Anyway...

The 33 does deflect the wind...just depends on how much you "hunch down"....I wear a ball cap...that is tight on my head sometimes....but then again I am 5'8" on a good day (no short jokes ya'll)...so I kinda fit right...if you are taller you may have a bit more problems...but it "does" deflect the wind....but not as good as a 342 with "windshield". The 342 with a windshield...you can go WOT, have a conversation, wear a ball cap....dew rag or whatever.... When I sell the 33 vs. the 342 down here in Houston...the ladies like the 342 with windshield because their hair doesn't get all jacked up (as bad) from the wind.....and it is just a more comfortable boat in general...if you are going from lets say....Galveston to Lake Charles. Also the 342 rides a little better because it is heavier in the nose so it doesn't porpoise like a 33 in some cases....

The 342 with the windscreen works a little better than the 33 I think....but you can't see out of it....you have to look "over it"...but my personal opinion the 342 looks better with the windscreen....

BUT I LIKE THE 33....That's my baby! (also my bread and butter!)

Have a good one all....

MR BAJA!

Flowerchild,
I've got a 342 with the windscreen. It is no better or worse than the 24 Outlaw I had before. It is the best of both worlds for me. We have all of the ammenities, including genset, but the look of offshore (no windshield).

Good luck,
Bruce...

Get the Outlaw. If you don't like the wind you can purchase a wind on deflector at Finneys for $200 and add it later.

I have the wind flaps on the warlock. They work very well

Yup. My dad has the same thing on his Ultimate Warlock Cat. They make an amazing difference, but keep the sleek look.

Nope. Won't work on all Bajas. The windaway screen requires some sort of existing windshield or lip that you can clamp onto. Outlaws can't use these.
