I have an ammolite gem stone that I bought in September, 2007 in Georgetown, Grand Cayman. This is a 14K gold and graded as "A+" meaning it is on the border line of being graded "AA". An ammolite gem stone is from a prehistoric nautulus snail like animal and mildly rare. All that would be needed for this to be on your honey's neck is a small fine gold chain. The colors are emerald green, blue, yellow and red. This gem really shines in the sun. If you ever go to Georgetown, the store is right across from where the cruise ship tenders come in...however you will pay alot more for one and them you get to declare it...or not. This one is for sale for $500.00 and it will appraise for much higher. The pics are the best I can do. It is an oval shape cut that is roughfully 3/8" x 3/4".
