Well looks like we have closed the deal on a 2001 33 Outlaw with 500 efi's. I got the results from the survey today and everything was excellent. They have a couple things to do that I requested, but I do not plan on picking the boat until January anyway. Thanks to Liquid Asset for giving me some background on the boat.
They are adding shore power and pump out head before I pick it up.
The best thing about the boat is the 500 efi's. I love the way those bad boys sound.
Give me some suggestions on a name for the documentation. The 25 was named Steel Outlawed, and I'm considering Steel Outlawed II. But I would like to get a few more suggestions before I make the decision. I'm in the steel business is why I used the previous name, and I also own a company that develops drafting software for the steel industry.

Todd,
The good thing about the southeast is that we are selling pretty much everything we bid. We have adjusted prices to cover the rising cost. We are back logged until early summer at this point. Profits were not great last year because we bid at last years prices and then had to fab at this year material cost.
Nice name Curt "Steel not enough" is probably correct. But it will have to do for about 3 or 4 years anyway.

Jeff,
I like Steel Outlawed II also. Reason being is whe had another member move up from his Caliber I believe and he was Never Enough, and then bought the sweet 36 Outlaw with 525's and went for Never Enough II. His name was Ed Newman and lives around me and is an active member. Well, I always knew who he was and instantly connected the two when he came splashing with his latest toy. Anotherwords, people will remember you as the guy with the 25OL, and say holy chit, he moved up, LARGE!
Good luck with the 33, sounds like a killer ride.

Thanks Blake, We have pretty much decided on "Steel Outlawed II" unless some really killer name comes along.

Jeff - I understand where you are coming from on steel prices, last year I worked on the MU Arena project, we lost our A$$ because our fabricator HAVENS STEEL went under, they did not have anything to pay us and left us holding the bag for about $800,000. Havens was a huge fabricator, I never thought ever, ever that they would go bankrupt, but they did. We erected the job, and MU got a nice Arena, with our company holding the bag. The same goes for Brewer Field House at MU. We were the erector for a minority fabricator out of Kansas City, Structural Steel Contract Services, who went broke also, our fab shop ended up picking up the pieces so we could complete the erection. Right now I am working on the New Cardinals Stadium, we are a erection sub to Hirschfeld Steel, with our fab shop doing about 40% of the fabrication, originally, our fab shop was supposed to do all of it, however, we lost the job due to the steel surcharges, we needed another 900,000 to procure the material. The Cardinals told us to get lost. It worked out for the best though, Hirschfeld Steel guaranteed the Cardinals no surcharge if they could initially procure all of the steel, the Cards went for it, then Hirschfeld hired us to erect it and subbed us some of the fab to boot. Its going to be a good job for us, except for the fact that I am working my balls off. This time next year, we will be working 24/7 to finish. We are just starting to ramp up on the erection, this past week we erected 210 tons. Its big iron, so you get a lot of tonnage/ piece. The whole stadium is made of steel. All of the loge, terrace and upper seating precast risers are supported by cantilevered steel trusses. We are also erecting all of the structural and architectural precast. It keeps me busy, so far we do not have to work Sundays, but that will be changing.

Congrats Jeff! A 33 with 500's. I'd love to have one! It should run right up there around 80-82 MPH on GPS, right? At least 78-80 with a normal load of pax and fuel. The HP500EFI's are SWEET!
Ya lucky dawg.
How about some a name: Dealin' Steel or Heavy Metal or Steel of a Deal

To borrow an IM handle from a co-worker - "Steel Crazy" Well that's his nice name. I would be partial to "Steel Twins" for those beauties under the hatch.
I work for a metal building manufacturer as a design engineer. It has been a crazy year. We did so much business trying to beat the increases. Our plants have been maxed to the end of the year since August. And we are starting to get some Florida re-build since we are one of the only manufactureres that have gotten the Miami-Dade certifications.
And the shops going under. HAve heard about some of those. I think one in Tulsa that my friend mentioned. She is a project manager. Used to be for Manhattan but is now with Carothers. With the way this year has went I am curious to see what next year holds.
Have fun with your new 33.

Thanks guys.
Matt, you will definetly get to see it this year. Dock Holiday and myself are going to try the Knoxville to Chatanooga trip this coming season. Maybe you could join us, if not for the whole trip at least part of it.
Two weeks from today we will be leaving for Texas. I'm pulling a friends boat out there. He sold his 25 Outlaw to someone in Texas, so we are delivering it for him. Isn't funny how things work out?

I would be up for that. I made that trip a few years ago on our old 310 Sundancer. It took about 8 hours on that boat, of course we only averaged about 25-30mph. It is a lot of fun with some great scenery.

That's what they were supposed to get. They installed it last week, and should be getting me some pictures with the carpet in the boat. They have everything done to the boat except one item and the part should be in this week. We're planning on leaving next Thursday after work for Texas to get it.

Beautiful 33 Jeff! Just let me know when you're tired of it. I'm ready to move up to a 33 and the colors and blue 500s under the hatch are EXACTLY what appeals to me. ;)

Steel, by the area code on the sign, looks like you'll be heading to the Dallas area to pick up your 33. Maybe some Dallas area TBM'ers can hook up with you if your staying overnight.

That would be cool, we are planning on arriving next Friday around noon, and then spending the night on Friday night. Then leave sometime early morning on Saturday. We've been talking about finding someplace nice to eat a steak on Friday night.

We're probably going to go I-20 through Atlanta. We will be pulling a 25 Outlaw out there, and 20 is a little better to travel. We will be up that way sometime this spring though.

December 28th, 2004, 02:47 PM
I was thinking about that. I40 does have a few hills between here and there that would be a pain towing on.

Jeff,
Congrats on your new boat. It's probably one of the biggest on Hartwell. I know it would be on Murray.
If you're ever in the area look me up. I'd be glad to take you out on Murray in my little ol' twenty.

Hey Kent, I'm heading through Columbia tomorrow. Going to Charleston for the day on business.
There is one other 33 on Hartwell. There are not as many Baja's as there used to be since Carolina Sports Center went out of business. There are a lot of Formula's, Python's, and Sunsation's though. And every once in a while you find a Fountain in a tree.:dancinbanana

Nice ride, Jeff.
As you know, I moved up from the 25 to a 33 last August. As much as I liked the 25, the 33 is that much better. A smooth, solid, good handling ride.
Mine is a 2000 with 502s. The only thing I would change would be for some blue power. Mine does about 70 with 4 blade bravos. You've probably seen the pic on another site.
You're not that far from Cumberland, are you? I plan on spending a good bit of time down there this coming summer.Maybe we'll run into (so to speak) each other.
