Baja Introduces the Exciting New 23 Outlaw
BUCYRUS, Ohio (September 2004) – They’ve done it again: Baja dominates the performance boating scene with the exciting new 23 Outlaw, a model that combines the versatility and affordability of a compact speed boat with all the thrills and amenities of a larger platform. Sleek and lightning-fast, the 23 Outlaw brings additional star power to the already-stellar Baja Outlaw lineup.
For starters, the 23 Outlaw features Baja’s classic offshore styling, with sizzling four-color in-gel graphics, a 23-degree deadrise and distinctive flat transom and deck. “It’s a profile that not only looks good, but also translates into serious performance. The 23 Outlaw is designed for smooth, precise handling at top speeds,” says J.R. Jenney, Baja’s director of sales and customer service. We’re excited about the new 23 Outlaw because it allows even more boaters access to such a terrific lineup.”
Speed is the focus of the 23 Outlaw, but not without the quality and structural integrity to back it up. That’s why Baja performs their industry-leading application of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software, allowing them to strengthen the hull in high-stress areas, reduce overall weight and—you got it—increase speed. Carbon fiber reinforces the all-composite stringer system. It all adds up to incredible durability and performance. Then you factor in the big guns: a 6.2L MX MerCruiser powerpack with 320 horsepower, standard, with options even stronger and faster—including the 496 Magnum HO Mercruiser with 425 horsepower.
In the cockpit, twin Aero drop-down bolster seats allow the captain and a guest to enjoy the ride sitting or standing. Family and friends can relax on the comfortable aft bench seat or stretch out on the large sun pad. Ample storage space in the side panels and beneath the aft bench mean the 23 Outlaw accommodates loads of water toys, PFDs and extra gear.
Smooth operation is the main objective of the helm layout. Standard features above and beyond the norm add value: A 12-volt convenience outlet powers a cell phone or other accessories, a built-in hourmeter helps remind boaters to take care of their investment. A full array of backlit red Livorsi gauges make it easy to check the boat’s vitals, day or night. Additionally, a Livorsi shifter and throttle, custom-tilt steering wheel and power steering give drivers complete confidence and command.
“Baja makes boats for people who take performance seriously,” Jenney says. “The 23 Outlaw sacrifices nothing in the way of handling, speed or control. Meanwhile, it’s comfortable, too. Families can spend an entire day on the water and feel their needs are fully covered.”
Needs, as well as desires. The 23 Outlaw comes with a standard AM/FM Clarion CD stereo system, so you can add state-of-the-art sound to enhance your time on the water. Additionally, a hideaway door in the dash slides open to reveal a cabin in the V-berth, with extra storage space for even more of your can’t-leave-home-without-it gear.
For speed, performance, and superb handling in a versatile, affordable package, the new Baja 23 Outlaw really delivers
