Guys, my brother in law wants to buy a used cruiser. We live in the Cleveland area and the boat is at a Regal dealership. It is made by Mainship. have you guys heard of this manufacturer? Anyways i am willing to look the boat over with him but I think he should get it inspected by a professional. how do we go about finding a honest inspector for the boat? And how much $$$ is he looking at to have it inspected?
Thanks

I dont know if mainship is still in business.
Ive seen some of their bigger boats. Look like trawlers. They did make one that was "euro" looking.
For a survey you'll pay a few hundred bucks min. If you get into oil samples, and engine stuff it goes up from there. Boat should be looked at out of the water which I'm sure it is this time of year.

I know they are huge boats. I guess when I go to Put n bay this year with him I will give him an hour head start then I can leave the marina and still beat him there. ha ha. He will be much more comfortable at night and I will be squezed into my little 302 0] Oh well I will just have a few more Bud Lights that day and I will be nice and comfy:zzzzz

From what i know, Mainship is a well built cruiser. They maintain there value well. THey are currently owned by the same company that owns Luhrs boats. (Luhrs makes great offshore fishing boats) They have a few models but one that sticks out to my mind is the Aft cabin version. (really tall in the back). Best bet is to get a survey of the boat to be sure!
