I tried 2 computers here at work. I can pull up the other topics under that catagory, but not Lake Travis. Since i won't be able to make it, its probably better, don't have to read how much fun it will be.

Look, I'm even able to use words like cockpit (from the trailering post).

Better watch out, I think the "MAN" is coming down on you. I wonder if you have some sort of sniffing software at work that's preventing certain words, etc.
Not to rub it in, but if the weather holds up, we'll be out to Conroe on Sunday. I wish I could go Saturday but we have box tickets for the rodeo and the wife wants to go! I told her I could just bring the Brooks and Dunn CD in the boat (it would sound better anyway) to play for her but she wasn't going for it.

If so, it just happened a couple of hours ago. Here at my second job (another fire dept) they do have software built in. I can't go to chat on the computer. But "Lake Travis" topic. That's going too far. $hit
<img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/laugh.gif" />Yeah, gotem on the $ sign substitute.

Keith,
The season is young, we'll meet up sooner or later. We usually put in off 105 (at the marina with the small motel and all the fisherman-can't remember the name) so we usually make a run to Del Lago before and after we go to the north end of the lake.

Keith,
Sorry you won't be out this weekend. If all goes well tomorrow I will be out with the Kiddos testing out the new trim tabs this weekend.
Do keep working on Travis, it sounds awesome.
Busta - Maybe I see you on the lake this weekend. When you say "north end" how far do you typically go up? I have been warned alot about the stumps in the north end so I have been shying away.
Thanks!
Ashley
PS: I did not have any trouble on the other post.

Ashley, the tabs should work great. I usually drop mine on a crowded weekend to smooth out the ride. Summer is just beginning. We'll get together. I'm starting my weekend rotation where i work either Sat or Sun. Its just hard going to Del Lago and coming home without spending the night and getting up at 4 the next morning to go to work. I'll look at Travis one more time. Chris, we'll catch up to ya. April Plaza is where you put in. We'll all keep in contact here and by email to hook up and do some "Bajaing". Also i'm at home now so lets see if this works, cockpit.
Well must be a security thing at my second job.

Keith you're right it is April Plaza. You think I could remember that considering my family used to have a condo in April Sound. Too bad they don't still have it!!
Ashley,
We go all the way up towards both of the public boat ramps in the national forest (one is off of 1097 and the other off 1375). You can get to the national forest area just past 1097 pretty easy. The one off of 1375 is a little more tricky - you definitely need to know your way. I've been boating/jetskiing on Conroe since about 1988 so I can navigate the lake pretty well. Most of the places around the National Forest are very calm and smooth because there is no bulkhead up there. Alot of the wakeboarders and skiers hang out up the way so there's usually some entertainment too!

Me and the wife may be out on Conroe, or Summerville this Saturday, we usually launch at the marina across from Mcdonals of off 105 in Conroe. Look for a 29 with NASDBOY on the side.

I'm working every weekend this month, and maybe next month. :( During the week I have to watch Megan (8 month old daughter) while mommy works. :rolleyes :D
So, no Baja for me either..paying $$$$$$$$ every month for it to sit and gather dust.

Newoutlaw, that ramp is Inland Marina. Good deep ramp.

Not sure of the name, they sell pontoons or something inside. Indeed a nice deep launch, but also very steep, Im always paranoid that the brakes will fail, and pull us in the water when we try to launch.:rolleyes I take my sweet as* time backing down it too:biggrin

Newoutlaw, Its called Inland. Most big boats use it because of it being deep, but your right, pretty steep.

We usually hang out around the island, or the small sandy area near the dam. Dont really go to Conroe too much anymore or know where to go and hang out.

we also go to the dam and anchor once and a while.

Hey Guys,
My kids (ok me too) are really interested in anchoring at the island and going ashore there.
What is the water like around the island? Do you typically anchor and then tie a line to a shore anchor?
I never did this with a boat I cared enough about to not just run it up on the beach so all advise is appreciated!
Thanks,
Ashley
PS: Keith, the tabs are half on, not a great status for Friday night but oh well. Hopefully I will finish up early in the am.

There is a shallow underwater ridge on the north end of the island. It extends out about 100' to the north. Very deep on the west end. If you aren't aware of it you can drag the outdrive. It's mudd/sand, not rocks but it can do damage.
The best side to anchor on is the east side, closest to land.
I usually just beach the bow, but there is so much wave action at times, the boat moves around a lot. Get 2 anchors and anchor the boat about 20' off shore.
I haven't been on that island in a couple years so I can't say if there are any signs on it preventing access, or if the beach is any good.

Like Chris said, I usually anchor off the east side of the island. When the kids want to go up to the island, we toss them a couple floaties and swim for it. The water may still be too cold for them to get in right now, but if its hot enough, they should be ok.:biggrin
The dam is a lot calmer, only because there is a little bouy mark around the beach for a no wake zone. We can usually get about 10 feet from the beach there without stirring up the muddy bottoms with the drives. Not much room on the beach for the kids to play. I never drive mine up on the beach, I dont feel comfortable with that.

I ditto what Chris and Newoutlaw said about the island. We don't go there much but because it is rough. I had always anchored off the bow and usually the wind would keep the stern torward the island. That used to be a great sight when they would set off fireworks from there on the 4th of July. The dam area can get crowded on summer weekends, but you can anchor in deeper water and float with beer in hand. Always a good time there. Newoutlaw, now i realize which 29 you have. I remember seeing Nasdboy a few times coming into Del Lago while were out at the houseboat partying.

Well we arrived in Conroe around 1 today, saw a few Baja's out. Water was pretty rough and F*ing COLD:o Also went by Gotta's place to see if he was out, it seems to be a little more shallow back there than I remember. There was a little seadoo boat doing constant circles in front of the launch there.
One bit of good news, I have had problems with the port side motor stalling out for no reason when hitting good wakes, and the alarm going off, and guages going nutz at the same time. So much now that the buzzer no longer works. Been to the shop twice for it last year, they never could find anything wrong. While testing the boat out today it started again, anyway I found the loose connection behind the ingition key after jacking with things for a while, problem solved. Im a little upset that the repair shop didnt find it, and of course I had to pay for there time to hunt for it:rolleyes

Firehill,
If ya see us out flag us down:biggrin Also we are removing the name off the sides and putting it on the transom. If I understand correctly from another site. Even if the boat is Documented we now have to have the TX tags and numbers on the bow. Had no problems today with the watercops though, didn't give me a second look.8)

Newoutlaw, It will be a few weeks before we're back out. Working weekends, but you never know, if its pretty, cough cough, may have to head to the lake. When you come into Del Lago and get to houseboat row, mine is the third houseboat from the hotel on F-dock. My 260 is right in front of it, bow out with the teal cover, on G-dock. We'll watch for ya, or catch ya on the water. Keith
