First off, I want to introduce myself. My name is Leslie and I hail from the Charlotte NC area by way of the Chicago 'burbs originally.

I've read over all the posts re. the 30OL that I could find and rather than comment individually on each, I thought I'd try to sum up what I've seen in one.

I know of one other 30OL that's been sold recently. Chad at Westport Marine on Lake Norman sold a 2004 SST with 496 HOs. On a Garmin GPS it was clocked at 78.3mph on a cold winter day with no chop. The speedos read 81-82.

The boat is identical in color and graphics to the 33OL on the Baja website. The only options that it lacks are shore power and air.

I snapped some pictures of it yesterday while it was sitting at the marina and will make sure I get some today when we have it out on Lake Norman and post them when we get back.

I can't comment on the 30OL vs. 29OL because I've never rode, slept, etc. in a 29, but I can tell you that it's unlike any of the other Outlaws that I've seen. The convertible berth is awesome! A WHOLE lot more room than the 25OL v-berth that I'm used to. It takes a big of work to get the bed set up rather than just climbing to the front though.

Being a chick, the big thing for me was the enclosed head, although you'd better be a small person otherwise it'll be pretty tight in there! I don't remember if the liner is grey or white, so I'll get back to you later on that. The other concern I have is if it has as much storage space as the 25OL. I guess we'll soon find out.

You're all right... it is a very pricey boat. But when we looked at the 31' Sonic and 29' Fountain there really is no comparison. The craftsmanship, handling, ride, comfort, etc. of the Baja is second to none. Granted, it is a new model and the "gotta-have" factor is there, but come on...it's a completely redesigned boat and you're going to pay for the R&D for awhile. This is my boyfriend's 3rd Baja (24 OL & 2001 25OL previously) so that's gotta tell you something about customer satisfaction.

Blake ~ thanks for the great website! I've read off and on for the past year or so, but this is my first post. I'm sure you'll love your new boat when you finally get it. They're amazing!

Welcome to the forum Les!

Keep us informed regarding the 30. Thanks for the info above. It's neat to hear from somebody that's operated other brands and can compare them to the Baja, and give positive feedback. :biggrin

Hi Leslie:

Welcome to the board. It is a great and informative site. Your comments pretty much hit the nail on the head and were very informative. I am looking forward to the pictures.

I have ordered a new 30 OL and my wife and I are having a real hard time trying to decide on the graphics. I have been told that I will have to decide two weeks before the boat goes into production which is supposed to be around the middle of June, so I probably won’t see the boat much before August due to shipping the boat overseas.

Thank you for the warm welcome, you guys! My digital decided to stop working after 1 picture, so I grabbed the old reliable from my truck and snapped some shots of it tied up at a local watering hole on Lake Norman. I'll post them to the photo gallery after I pick them up and scan them, as well as, a picture or two of the "old" boat.

Gosh, I can't wait for the summer.... Anyone free to make a run to Bimini over the 4th?

Les

P.S. The liner is white

BajaChick:

Thanks for posting the pics. You have to be happy with the new boat. Man it looks so hot the way it sits in the water. I am really leaning towards the same graphics as yours. Just a couple of questions, well maybe more then a couple.

1) What props are you running with the 496 HO’s and what speed does 3500 rpm give you??

2) It looks like you have the upgraded Clarion Stereo are you happy with it?

3) I see you have the Monster gauges package but it doesn’t look like your depth finder has a blue bezel the same as your dash gauges. Is that the way it came from the factory?

4) Do you have the power nav light?

5) What, if anything would you change?

In closing I think you have made a great choice on a great boat, and wish you many days of happy boating. You can bet people are going to get neck strain when they see your boat. It’s just way cool!!

Les,
Hot boat! Where did you buy and want to share the price? Nice to have our first 30OL owner right here! I cant wait to get mine (booking a ticket to the factory today, to see it in the build stage) Your liner is white, early on in production, this is the way they came untill Bja decided to change it to grey. So there will be both out there for the 2004 model year.

want to share the price?

Blake, funny you should ask. I had been contemplating asking you the very same question. Wasn't so much interested in the actual dollar figure as I was to know whether or not Baja really stepped up to the plate (big time) and helped you out?

Curt,
Funny, you should post this question:rolleyes , you are the first one to ask me that. This is my answer regarding...I am purchasing my boat through Channel Marine and the terms and price of my boat sale are confidential. If that doesnt answer your question, I apologize, but I will tell you that I paid a fair acceptable price and it wasnt free by any means.

I find myself eating my words.

When I saw the 30 outlaw in Miami it just didn't do it for me and I thought the 33 was the better bet.

But seeing the photo gallery with the 30 in the water at the dock I am super impressed. The boat looks absolutely georgeous in the water.

If I had a new 30 on the way I'd be real real excited after seeing those shots.

Awesome looking rig.

I knew you did not get it for free, nor do I even think you got if for cost. Baja's cost that is, you may have very well go it for Channels cost. ;) And I was probably aware the actual sales price was confidential. What I was wanting to know is whether your price was one you worked out with Channel alone? Or did Baja help Channel get you into the boat? Or is that info confidential too.

Only reason I ask...I feel that if the actual Baja Corp. helped with the wholesale price to Channel so they could work with you, then that would definately show their appreciation for your efforts.

Curt,
Your questions are valid, but unfortunately my sale has a confidentiality agreement with Channel attached to it. That is all I can say regarding the purchase. Forgetting about the boat for a moment, Baja has recognized my effort with this website in many ways that are personal to me (and I have passed this on within the site with no formal announcement, kinda like playing Where's Waldo? know what I mean?) and it has nothing to do with money. The way the website has evolved over the past year couldnt have been without the help and blessing of big brother.

I'm sure this will stir things up a bit....WOW, for once I (a dealer) am not the one under the gun regarding "New Boat Pricing"!:party

Good job Blake...it is great that you are a man of your word and honor your commitment!

BajaChick,

Welcome. Chicago, your OK in my book. I see the 30' Outlaws are still pretty pricey. I saw that Grand Sport Center had one with 496 HO's so I called but he could not give me a price over the phone. I did find out the price was around the low $130's. I'm sure if I go in I can get it lower than that.:biggrin

I'm sure this will stir things up a bit....WOW

I don't think so MR BAJA
We all knew Blake would get a better deal than we could, and I think we would all say that HE SHOULD.
We can see what he has done for Baja and himself and I don't think anyone would hold it against him.

My hats off to Blake :tiphat

I agree with bajacraig Blake has done a lot for promoting Baja so why not give hem a brake.

Bottom line, making a good deal for Blake is good business. As much as he has done for us and Baja, I for one applaud them for taking care of him. When I worked for Chrysler I provided a 3500 Dodge to a well known country group to tow their Outlaw race cars with. I got more calls for trucks by people seeing our sign on the truck than I did in news adds. Baja will get more out of Blake in a custom 30, than they would make on extra profit. Just look how many people post on this site about buying a Baja. TBM is a great asset to Baja and they know it. Just my .02
