Alright guys, need some opinions and info.

Been looking around the net at boats. It helps pass the time on midnights. Anyways I found a boat that I am interested and I am going to call to see if they still have it today. Probably go look at it.

The boat is:

1985 Force 200

Has: 5.7/260 HP, SS prop, hyd tabs, depthfinder, potti, bimini.

Link: www.boats.com/sites/easts...rclnk_name (http://www.boats.com/sites/eastsidemarine/boat?entityid=100534461&mid=1102&showDL=false&showMD=false&clk_srclnk_name)

Asking price is $8995

To me that is really high and frankly asking too much. But I am going to look at it anyways. If I like it I am going to work on trade difference.

I looked up the values of my boat and this one. There was roughly $600 between them. The 200 being higher. Both boats were worth some where in the 5000-5500 range.

So this is what I am thinking. If I like it I am going to offer my boat and 750 for a start. My boat and 1500 is the max. Would like to keep it to a grand if possible.

Think I am giving to much up considering the other boat is 3 yrs older and only 2 ft longer.

Just some background on mine. I bought it a month ago. It has a the 3.0 4 cyl in it. It has been a little bit of a project. I have spent a lot of time fixing it back up. The boat is in good condition overall. The motor fires right up like it is fuel injected. Everything works. I just finished putting in a new battery, stereo system, trailer tires. I also fixed/replaced the wood on a couple of the seats. Cleaned up the wiring in the engine compartment. Replaced a bunk and fender wells on the trailer. New saftey chains. Other than the gelcoat being faded/oxidized, the boat is very sound.

To be honest, when boats get that old, the book value means very little. The condition will regulate the price. The boat appears to be in nice shape. It also has a very nice newer, tandem axle trailer under it. The trailer alone is worth 1500.

Your right. Book value means nothing to me.

I might be selling mine soon. I have a 1986 220 Force. If interested, drop me a line.

Whatever you decide have the boat checked out by your marina. Especially check the stringers make sure they are sound. I made the mistake when I bought my 320 last June, all 4 stringers that the motors are mounted too are rotten.

Well I went and looked at it. I wouldn't have given them any money for trade.

First, the whole boat has been repainted. Not knocking repainting if it is done right, but to me it wasn't. It looked like the paint had blistered up on the nose. The was several places where it had gotten into a dock and paint was as rough as sandpaper. The lettering on the side was hand painted on and peeling some. The trailer was also repainted. It is oklahoma trailer, but they painted Eagle on it.

then there were small cuts in the sunpad and other things that scared.

the pictures really hid the stuff.

Teambaja, shoot me an email with your price. I kinda have talked myself out of tradin right but could be interested in a month or two. I just need to see how work goes.

Thanks for the info, but I would say a 98 24OL is out of my price range. Hopefully in 3-5 yrs it won't be.

Actually I have decided against tradin this year. Right now work is really busy and looks like I might be working a lot of weekends.<img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/mad.gif" />

If thats case, I am just going to sit back, try to save some money this year and put mine up for sale beginning next year. Include my tax return and maybe I can get an early 90s 24 OL or sport or bandit.

If not I have found some 220 and 235 in the 9-11 range I going to shoot for.

Gottahavea33,

I appreciate letting me know. I have just decided to stick with what I got for this summer. I have put to much time, hard work, and sleepless day/nights getting this thing in the shape I want it. I figured I might as well enjoy this year. They only way I could do anything right now was to come across a deal where I could get into something as nice for a grand or fifteen hundred.

Good luck and hope you are able to sell yours. If it doesn't sell this year then get a hold of me next year. I will being to trying to move up in to the 10-12 range then. I am going to put mine up for sell next Jan and hopefully looking to do something when the ole tax money comes in.
