A half mill? Is that all? Heck I wonder if they take a check.

Anyone want to guess how long they sit on it?

In all reaity, that is NOT a bad deal. The motors alone are a 100K upgrade, let alone all the custom paint, and cool upgrades!Good luck to the new owner! Untill then, looking forward to that "test ride":headbang2

And remember, as it currently looks, this will be the last 40 built.

History is always worth a little more...

Like I posted, I only "heard" a half mil. Anyone want to crank call Hawkeye and pretend to be an Arab from Saudi looking for a new toy and get a "real" price?

It won't last long, somebody will want to add it to their collection of toys. I hope it is someone from the midwest so we can see it around. I would rather buy that than a new 42 Fountain. One of a kind! :headbang2

While this boat is an outstanding representation of what Baja could do when they put their minds to it, this boat is going to have to find the "right" buyer. It will have to be a die hard Baja fan that just has to have this boat but that can also afford the coin it should bring. Most folks looking for boats in this price range are going to be considering others such as Cigs, Outerlimits, Skaters and others and in that world, Baja just does not get any respect.

I think it is a bad azz boat, but time will tell on the market for it. I did hear Baja turned down 500K for it at the boat show since they had already committed to the tour. I wonder if that buyer is still out there. :noidea:

Well, we use the buying power of TBM. There are 5,483 paying members so at 5 Mil thats $912 per member and we could create our own tour.

I will volunteer to keep it as I probably move around as much as anyone one the site so I will be able to supply the boat to the masses:24: :24:

I wonder if they will let folks climb on the boat. If any one is wanting good photos of the boat let me know I just happen to have a bunch on my Hard Drive.

I will agree with you on this Matt. Someone looking to spend that kind of money will most definitely be looking at other manufactures. Although Split Decision looks awesome, I can't hit that 100 MPH mark with that power. That alone could keep it sitting for a while...but who knows, I was wrong about the Ford Flex too...:24:

I agree it will take the right buyer, but it is still NOT because it is in the price range of a Skater, Outerlimits,Nortech, etc... The price of this boat is about 1/2, and this is before all the custom upgrades if you added it to those boats.Think about it, in all reality you are just tickelling the price of a base 42 Fountain, just right at the same price as a 42 Donzi. And without a doubt, Split Decision is by far the more attention grabber!

Speed, well, honestly, how many people JUST want to run wide open all the time, the RIDE is why many people get the larger boats (and of course the look).

I can tell you first hand, the 40 is an absolutly great wave pounder, handles and rides great!.

This boat is actually affordable, in 2 ways, you can still get financing, and the insurance is not that bad. (in comparrison to it's counterparts listed above)

I think it will not be all that difficult to sell the boat, but you also have to understand, and this is my opinion, the dealer may not be in such a hurry to "sell" the boat anyway, they have their Poker Runs coming up, as well it IS a great marketing tool.

Knowing Hawkeye VERY well, I can honestly tell you, IT IS NOT about just selling a boat to them, it is about the experience, and making sure it is always what you would expect, and this is BEFORE the "after the sale" customer service.

ROCK ON HAWKEYE!!!!!! :headbang2

I havn't talked to them since they got it in, the weather hasn't exactly been great this week either. I would guess next week, we'll hear some numbers.

Think I'll have to go for a ride tomarrow to scenic IA. :smarty:

Eddie, When I was in Miami I discussed speed with them, now this was before the boat was dialed in or "Hawkeyed" they were talking low to mid 90's. I cant see it being much faster than Mid 90's though. Still a BA boat and a sweet ride. Lots of money for that size of boat with no creature comforts IMO.

My buddies 35 with 700 SCI's runs 94 GPS full dress, I can't see this boat running the same speed.

I won't believe the speed until I'm standing in the boat and we are moving water, so I don't know why I'm asking any ways !

Ahhh, but you are assuming that the 500 grand crowd is just looking at new boats. Besides, I still think it is going to take more than that to buy this boat.

Sorry, SD is bad azz, but if it were between that boat and a year old 39 Top Gun Unlimited for a hundred grand less, I am going with the cig and I think a lot of others will as well.

SD will sell, at what time and amount is unkown but when you are comparing it to the crowd at the docks at the major runs (Florida, north east, etc), most people will spend that kind of money on other boats.

I can't imagine how much the paint job, and the stereo equipement costs on it. There is probably a 100 grand there, add in the twin 700 blue motors and it is a good deal for a 40 ft. boat. I'd buy it if I had the money.

Your are right about YOUR opinion, however I believe a person who is in the "New" boat market only looks at new. Warranties, being the ONLY owner, and having that one of a kind look again is why people in that price range are looking.

When we purchased our 40, I had the choice of what brands, new vs used etc, I am a new boat buyer for the same reasons mentioned above.

Insurance unfortunately ends up playing a BIG part in my decision, going to the NorTech we were looking at, the insurance more than doubled. and it was a smaller overall size boat. It is all priorities though, and that for us was the reason we stayed w/Baja. Ok so it is being part of TBM as well....

In the other thread that stated they thought having the cutty bare was also an issue, again this is personal, I wish ours was more plain, less weight, less to go wrong; the only thing we use out cutty for is holding the coolers...

I would be surprised if this boat leaves the Midwest anyway, My guess is it will end up @ LOTO or in TX, but it is too early to tell.

Its all about being noticed, feeling good about what we have and money is secondary, personally having a one off boat is more important than just having the run of the mill other brands. This is why so many of us have "Personalized" our boats in the first place.

We can debate this for hours, but if you like it and it fits your boating budget, buy it, if not, doesn't really matter, either way, someone is going to have a GREAT BOAT!

HOT OFF THE PRESS!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got off the phone w/Jeff @ Hawkeye, Split Decision is priced @ $429900.

He stated that untill you see the boat in real life, it doesn't do it justice, the rigging, attention to details, the special changes and enhancements they added, all are very impressive.

Baja put their life and soul into this boat to really show off what they could do, so it is VERY well built!

They invite all Baja fans to stop buy and see it, you will be amazed!!!!!

I would have NEVER considered spending $400k+ on a toy.....until now. :rolleye00

Honestly, I'd much rather have a brand new custom 40OL than a year old Outerlimits, Cig or whatever, as nice as those boats are. That it's new and I know how it's been treated means a lot to me but that's how we roll. That it's so unique is the icing on the cake. I don't think Nat is willing to live in a trailer so we can afford it though. :24:

Sonya and I had the pleasure of spending half of the afternoon at Hawkeye Boat sales in Dubuque taking pics of Split Decision and talking with A.J and Jeff Becker. I tried to get as many answers as I could to all the rumors that are floating around.
I asked Jeff Becker if Reggie had any interest in touring S.D. this summer, and he said no! :angryfire
A.J. did tell me that there is 5 poker runs that they want to take S.D. to.
The first one was Desert storm but they didn't think they would have S.D. Hawkeyed(fine tuned) in time. The others are Hawkeye poker run in June, T.B.M/M.W.B.P run in July, and Shootout weekend. This all depends if S.D. is sold or not and trust me A.J. is in NO hurry to sell it. I do have some pics but they don't do the boat justice.

it is disgusting how much $$$ those guys have. I have a client that is partners in another performance boat company and he was telling me about a boat they were building for some shiek in Dubia. He said they custom made/ordered gold sinks and faucets, granite countertops,etc... He said the guy just asked them to put the biggest motor they could fit in it. The boat priced out for double of the base model or something close to that.
