I've Seen Outdrives with 1.36 1.50 1.62 What Does All That Mean Is It Like Cars 3.55 has Less Bottom End Than a 4.11 THANX!!

The most common for most performance boats is 1.50. The others are valuable for fine tuning a boat. There's no real magic formula for which is best, but it's just like the rear end of a vehicle with different gearing.

Some like to turn small props faster(1.36 gearing), some prefer bigger props turned slower(1.62).

A 1.36/1 turnes the prop faster than a 1.5/1, at the same engine rpm.
