Thanks, looking forward to it. Grew up riding in Baja's, dad had a 91 270 and a 97 29 Outlaw before he jumped ship to Fountain. I'm ready for another one.

Then there's always a bunch listed on boattraderonline.com as well as boats.com good luck in your search and make sure you pick the one that suits your needs its always hard to not jump on the first one that attracts your eye after you been looking awhile.

Only newer 29 on bajaboatsforsale is single engine. Have checked out everything listed on boattrader, boats.com, OSO, etc. I guess my idea of what market value is for these boats is different from most sellers. Gas prices are climbing and boats are just sitting on the market yet most of these guys won't hardly budge on their price. I'm starting to think most people aren't real serious about selling... Thats ok though, I'm patient. The right one will come along sooner or later.

I am looking also (29, 30 OR 33 OL) and am in no hurry. There is one that seems interesting on another site...900SC blower motors with #6 drives for 140k in a 36OL. Wants more than I am willing to go. I would be real interested in one that had a blown motor or even a wounded motor...as long as it was a big block, I dont care. Motors are coming out anyway.

The boat your looking to buy your going to be paying somewhere in the neighborhood of 75-80k for with decent hours that isn't beat to death. Anything less than that you better be right there with the check cause if your not someone else will be. The 29OL is a sought after boat.

I would agree you'd be getting a sweet custom 30OL with the engines you are looking for for the money you'll pay for a 29OL and it will have all the newer technology as well as all the sweet upgrades. :wavetowel

I disagree. There are 2 clean low hour '02s with 496s that have been on the market for months at 75K and haven't budged. One owner even admitted to me that he isn't even getting any calls. ABOS high trade value on an '02 is 60K not counting the trailer. I think realistic price on these boats with a trailer is 65K - 68K, maybe a little more for the newer models or for a lot of extras. The guys with 2000 models asking 75 - 80 are dreaming.

JMENG,
I agree with you on the 2000 29 OLs going for $75k+. I have one in mint condition with < 200hrs, 454 Mags, and unique colors and would list it for much less (with trailer) if I really wanted to sell it. But, alot of people want that 2000 29OL for the paint scheme.
Curious as to why you want the 496s??? Compared to the 454/502 Mags, they are not made near as well and really cannot be upgraded. The 454/502 Mags are made with heavier duty parts that have been proven to last.

April 27th, 2007, 11:52 AM
Won't be upgrading the engines so thats not a factor. I like the increased resale and lower gas consumption of the 496s. I also like the graphics better on the 02 and new models. Mainly comes down to wanting a fairly new (less than 5 years old) boat.

That is what I figured. If I was buying now, I would go 2004 or newer. For what it is worth, then I highly suggest going with the 496 HOs. The extra HP is worth the money when buying used. Good luck! Check out www.yachtworld.com.

You have a great looking boat Bowtyes...probably more than I want to spend. I also want to trade/sell my 72 vette ( www.infohost.org/72vwttw (http://www.infohost.org/72vwttw) ) towards a twin...either a 29, 30 or 33 but I am mainly looking for one with a wounded or blown motor. I have a pair or 805 HP 540 motors sitting in the den waiting for a place to live. So whatever I end up with, the stock motors are coming out and chunked.

I agree with you Jmeng. I dont b-grudge anyone for asking a large sum for their boat...hope they get it, but with times as they are today...it is not a sellers market and many are hung out to dry with hugh payments...others want too much equity. Even some of the dealers (advertisers) are asking way to much and when you shoot a reasonable offer at them...its "are you out of your mind?" Thats ok...no offense taken here...I aint paying a floor plan and with gas going to Hell, alot of people want to get rid of their twins because of the fuel burn. Me personally...I dont give a crap what the gas prices are...I am going to do whatever I want to do. I will pay a fair price for a twin, but so far nearly all I have seen are over priced by as much as 20K. I hope all that have boats for sale get what they want, but as for me, I am in no hurry...but if what I thought was a good deal came my way...the party is over...the fat boy is singing...I will snag the boat.

Shooter I am looking for low 70's. I believe the HO's should bring in a few more $$$$. Also trailer was pruchased new in Dec. Paid 6K has trip axel with trip disc brakes.
Just installed Livosi matching GPS speedo as well.
My plan has been to sell the boat and I also then would sell my corvette to get into a 35 OL or a 35 Donzi ZR.
I would love to keep my boat. Love the graphics. GEt compliments every time out. Just need to stretch it 6 feet:onhishead

Some of this is true. But.....
ABOS is not an acurate fair market value. That is a book to guide dealers on trades so they can in turn add in a profit margin, selling the boat somewhere within the average market value range listed in NADA.
You might find one as cheap as a dealer pays but even most "killer deals" fall into at least the "low retail" range, not dealer pricing.

Everyone has their own opinions and thats fine. However NADA low retail is only a couple thousand different from ABOS hi trade.
Low 70's for an '03 model HO boat with a trailer is a very fair price...

Which boat are you talking about? Of the 2 '02s I mentioned in my post above one is saltwater and the other is fresh. Personally I don't stress about it unless it shows a lot of corrosion.

Won't allow me to post pictures since I'm not a paying member. But I found an '04 with 496 mags and 75 hours on it. Enjoyed the hell out of it over the summer, put about 40 hours on it. Plenty of pictures on OSO.

Hey Dennis,
Larry and I saw it on Ebay yesterday...still think the price should come down some....if you watch it, they started at $80K :24: ...and it seems to drop about $2500 every week to two weeks... Low 60's and it is a deal IMO.... but what do I know?

Dennis,
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
$65K is good....just thinking if they had listed it at ~$69,995 (instead of $80K)when you traded it, they would have gotten it or a little closer....$3.00/gal + + fuel....off season now (for most of the country)....just kinda equals a softer market. Keep in mind also this boat brand new could be bought in the 1-teens...5 model years ago now!
Again, just my experience and my .02 (for what it's worth)?
Again buddy, Happy Thanksgiving!
MR BAJA!
