A 40' Baja was impounded in Cincinnati for a hit and run incident on the Ohio river. A 21' runabout with 7 people aboard was hit. I believe 6 were injured.

Have you seen the damage pictures ? Sure doesn't look like boat to boat collision damage. From the reports it seems a bunch of folks don't like this guy. I guess time will tell if it's a railroading job.

No pictures were printed in the paper (Louisville, KY). They did mention damage to 1 of the 3 drives, but said nothing concerning the hull.
It made reference to the fact that the boat owner was a car dealer in Columbus, Ohio.

I recall one image that I found online in another post showed the center engine outdrive broken off at the gimbal! The bellows were plainly in sight in the photo.

Earlier in the week they had pics posted on wcpo.com
Local news channel they might still be there I haven't looked latley. I felt the same way that the damage didn't add up but the latest news I've heard is that people that were on the boat with him turned him in.

Interesting stuff, the force it takes for the outdrive to snap like that is pretty incredible. Why do thes mishaps always have a Baja boat involved? >:

Wow, what a shame.
I can't believe the 7 on board the smaller boat that was "run over" will all be okay. They said injuries only, no deaths, thank goodness.
That's got to be an awful experience.

I gotta voice out here... This is the 3rd such accident that I have heard about and that has been posted on the website, Baja owners or whomever, I must ask: Why don't these people stop after an accident? How can anyone in their right mind leave the scene when there could be injuries or even a fatality? No matter what state of mind someone is in, it is beyond belief when I hear about people leaving the scenes of accidents, on the water on even on land.>:

Ya know Blake I was thinking that exact same thing.
What a total disregard for other people. Thankfully nobody was killed. Nothing but total selfishness. Would rather run and not get a DUI (speculating) by forsaking the health and well being of another person.
Those people who were in the other boat are lucky to be alive. The operator of that boat could have easily killed them all. Hopefully they throw the book at him.

There are several circumstances that could lead to the operator of a boat to make a decision to run and hide in the hopes of not getting caught.
Contributing factors might be lack of judgement due to darkness and/or impairment (ie, alcohol, drugs) which compund the desire to escape being prosecuted.
Jeez sounds like lawyer-speak huh? :p
The above comment is not my conclusion to any of the Baja-related incidents, just my unprofessional guesstimate.

Believe it or not guys, I am a firm believer of "taking your medicine" and "doing the crime, do the time"
I do undertand about persons not wanting to get caught, but the end result is always worse when running and hiding.

It is unfortunate that we will be branded (for no reason other than the boats we enjoy) because of the stupidity of a few!
